Training - What Training?!

Any particular routine(s)? I have a similar target

Well, no idea what I am doing with regards strength work since I have never done any. 3 sets of 10 squats with 30kg (first week I didn’t use any additional weight). 4 min rest between sets. Done on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Was a bit sore initially but this seems to be dying down now - although I cannot manage a Zwift fully race yet as my quads hurt too much currently.

yay, managed a bit of a run this morning. 5km family run and a 1km walk home. Very slow, 34.28.

Back was kind of tolerant but not happy. Much better situation than even a week ago though. :crossed_fingers:

Speaking of backs, mine is fooked.
Run was easy, but hard, this morning.

Need to start some lumbar exercises.

Final day of a fab week in Mallorca today. Easy ride up Cap de Formentor. What a wee road that is. It was wacky races up there with all the 100s of tourist cars but great fun nevertheless (next time it needs to be done before brekkie). Can’t beat Mallorca for early Spring riding IMHO.

Have you been around the Corniche? That’s a lovely area.

This is what did my nut in :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
I was promised smooth roads. They’re not.
Patient car drivers. They’re not.
Good food. It isn’t.
Sunshine. It rained.

The rental cars around Soller are mental.
Buses everywhere. Deia we had a crash with someone stopping suddenly.

Best bit was that cyclist newsagent and bakery there :ok_hand:t4:

Gym this morning.

Surely 50 minutes of rowing and S&C will offset an inhumane amount of chocolate… right?

It’s quieter in March and cooler. Less cars. The roads are generally smooth with some notable exceptions like around Bunyola, and much better than UK :man_shrugging:. I feel safer here around cars than in UK as speeds are slower and the main roads eg Ma-2200 have a 1m hard shoulder (or more). But if you know the back roads then you need only touch the main roads for a few kms. Formentor and Deia are a bit mental though for traffic.

Food is superb if you know the right spots. I have a few go-tos in PollenƧa and P.Pollencia and Caimari that I can recommend. Suckling pig, shoulder of lamb, lots of sea food, salads, some superb rustic pizza joints. Just avoid new Alcudia and P.d.Muro strips.

I hear folks bashing Mallorca on here and I wonder where they actually went. Did folks stick to the Ma-15 and -13 main roads or something? Beats shit out of all the cycling I’ve ever done in northern England that’s for sure!!! Also far better than Lanza, Fuertaventura and G Canaria all of which I’ve cycled lots. Pyrenees is better, and Alps, but weather can be cold and wet and cols impassable until end-May. So for spring cycling it’s Mallorca or miserable goth-plagued Whitby.

I’ve been to Mallorca cycling loads of times, all over. I’ve never found it to be the utopia that others describe, especially with car behaviour but it’s not crap either.

There are some proper goat tracks and some billiard table smooth stuff.

Is that the stretch of road out of Andratx heading NE and hugging the cliffs/coast? Did that the previous two trips by getting an early taxi to Andratx and cycling back to Puerto Pollencia via the Puig. That’s a superb ride… just breathtaking.

:joy::joy::ok_hand:t4:

I’d not cycle Pyrenees or any massive cols as I hate descending. Femenia back to Pollenca was truly awful (for me!)

I think FatPom nails it for me; I was expecting utopia after being told by clubmates and YouTube. It put me off cycling abroad again, that’s for sure…

…although I reckon I’d have a better time by myself :face_with_peeking_eye::joy:

Cool story bro; A non-club friend of a clubmate came with us, his ā€quoteā€ for the trip about the potholes was

ā€you’ll need crampons to get out of that oneā€

Those cobbles are smoother than some of the back farming roads around Sa Pobla, Inca, Biniferri, Pina etc

3hr 13km walk up Whernside.
The dogs only pulled my over three times :sob:
Hands, knees and ankles ache a bit from the falls.
Although my ear is the worst from the constantly howling sidewind.

Grim way to spend a day :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Put myself into a little hole running 19k yesterday followed by a 75km ride down south. Was in bed by 10 l, so I’ve given myself the day off. Weather is looking shite all next week so I guess it’ll be a lot of Zwift.

Just over 10 hours on the week with a good mix of SBR
