One of the perks when I run at the walkway, although it was a bit breezy this morning to hear them,
Seeing a second deer in 4 days was a double bonus

Yeah i saw 2x deer as well! Wind wasnât too bad at the start of the run, so loads of avian action. Was a howling onshore by the time I got to the beach though!
Swim-run aquathlon with the tri club this afternoon which I managed to make a bit of a hash of.
Got out of the water just 2 minutes behind teenage Kevin Costner from Water-World, he was evidently having a slow day as the gap ought to have been. 3 or 4 minutes based on previous.
Run was 5km run around a hotel complex, 2 laps of a twisty out and back course, which I was not familiar with.
While âKevinâ was having a bad day, I felt rhe best I have for a month after a chest infection. Could see the gap shrinking at each turnaround so dug in & managed to catch and pass him in the final 500m.
It was quite warm, and I lay down in the shade by the finish line. Once had regained some composure got up and waited to shake Kevinâs hand, but he didnât appear which was strange, and neither did anyone else. Then after about 2 minutes some people said, are you sure you have done 4 laps?
Did you say 4?
Looked at my watch, realised Iâd only run half the distance but it just felt further because of all the twisting and turning.
Hoofed it straight back out onto the course.
Hammer down for the second time, was some way back in the field now. Somehow once again just about managed to chase down Kevin in the -actual- last 500m though. He really was having a bad day, getting passed by someone old enough to be his grandad (on Jeremy Kyle) twice in one run.
Brilliant Well done.
Heâs now retired from all sports and has become a couch potato after being destroyed by sandbagging old bloke who even stopped for a sit down!
Hope youâre proud of yourself
Solid 10hrs training this week for me. Downloaded the Android version of indieVelo and have been using that on the turbo. Itâs a bit rough around the edges and does make me realise how much has gone in to Zwift but all round it is pretty good - particularly from a solo developer. And since Iâve now completed all routes on Zwift, this gives me a whole new bunch of routes to tick off. Did the longest one on there today (45 miles, 6500ft climb) in 3h30m.
I have also entered a race! An actual triathlon!
Iron distance in St Neots in early July. Iâve not completed a tri since 2012 (DNS and DNFâed a couple) so this should be interesting. Havenât done loads of training since the deca was cancelled but 3 months should be good enough. Not planning on doing much more than get round but nice to have something to look forward to.
I thought today would be the day where I tried an FTP test on Zwift. I was unsure about how it would work and what was involvedâŚanyways I fired up Zwift and clambered on the bike. I gave me a score of 190, TBH Iâm a little disappointed. Iâll try again in a few weeks and see if I have improved.
Just noticed this on the Garmin - itâs been a while since I hit 50 so pretty pleased (appreciating that for others on this forum it might not be anything to shout about)
Automatic account suspension iircâŚ
110min drive, 6km jog.
8hrs of corporate âstuffâ now
45 minute spin class. Sweaty AF.
Away for a wedding over the weekend in Lisbon. Jettisoned toiletries and normal shorts in favor of multiple run outfits and a wetsuit with the bag being cable tied half closed. Ran twice, hilly AF and didnât make it to the beach .
I went swimming for the first time since September 2023
Just a very easy 12 x 100m as free, pull, paddles. 1:41/100m average.
(Missing the last two, as they were 1:50/100m cool down, and my phone is too small to show them all )
Times are more all over the place than a Coronation Street story line
Iâve managed to exercise for 4 x days in a row
Nothing flashy or impressive. But enough to make my legs bloody knackered on my run this morning!
On hols for a few days now. Hopefully will squeeze one run in if I can.
Gym this morning.
Rowing, and S&C.
Been kayaking up in the mangroves today right at the north point of the Qatar peninsula. We were in the water at sunset, it was calm and atmospheric with loads of different birds & some fish jumping out of the water.
Third time we have been up there, itâs great but itâs a 240km round trip and man do I hate driving
ETA: on the way there, stopped off at a remote beach called Fuwarit, turtles hatch there this time of year. Think they do it all at night so we didnât see any turtles, but saw plenty of burrows, eggshells and flipper marks in the sand.
ETA #2: as this is about training, also swam 1500 in the pool this morning with some 100s thrown in. Full time work existence starts on Monday itâs going to be very different
ah sorry double post but:
andâŚ
Even more freaky, they were both at exactly 7.31 am. howâs that for a stuck record? Unfortunately this morning the record was playing at 33rpm.
20 seconds per km slower, although today was 5C warmer
A year already!!!
Yeah, in fact Mrs ends her 2nd year teaching here in June. Originally 2 years was our plan, but stuff changed a little & now weâre not sure.
Double cov commute yesterday. Simple 20-22min 6.4km fixie ride. A lovely 6am-7:30pm day
1.2km swim this morning.
Cap came off after 50m, but other than that;
200 free, 200 pull, 400 paddles, 200 free, 200 pull. Using the H20 audio @funkster recommended last year
Loved it
A bit of Burna Boy to see me through the set.
