My running club has two ‘enclaves’. The faster Monday night folks and the retired/pensioner Thursday morning run/coffee group ( a couple of those are quite handy).
Given my back/knee woes, thought I’d join the pensioner run at 9.30 and make the most of being off work. Last night they sent a weird pic of 6 or 7 post boxes. Turns out that today’s run was running past the post boxes, each one was a different King or Queen on the front.
Route was about 7.5kms, some hills but not many. We get to the first one and we wait to re-group because there is a split. Then when I think we are taking off again, we stop for a group photo AT EVERY FUCKING ONE OF THEM.
Not my place to say anything but bloody hell! Then at a coffee afterwards they suggested doing some trail runs and looking for birds. Yeah, I’m out.
Well it’s their run and they can do as they please but I couldn’t be dealing with that every week. I don’t think they do ‘town runs’ every week though.
Lovely people and would make a great recovery/cool down run if you’d done 20km beforehand
@joex - AND THAT signing up for rides. Fork moi. What happened to meet at 8:30am by the old garage (it was last a garage in 1953) and do the “third Sunday of April” route (as it’s been the same since 1954)
You’d not know elevation, distance or speed. Just that Jim had promised you’d be back by 1:30pm, which after a 35km team Time trial over’t’hills, you were
Fair play, I’m not a member of their club though so thought I should ask first. But fuck it, maybe I’ll just rock up and see if they can stop me. Saturdays are their baby rides anyway. I did one years ago and froze my ass off waiting for four people to take twenty minutes to repair one puncture.
Putting this here to hold myself accountable not swum anything long in a long time (since Oct IM?) so going for my first 3- day swim week with a 3.8k continuous swim just to really ensure I properly ingrain my poor technique
My training has been poor since the start of the year due to leg injury. Leg is feeling much better and I’ve started getting some runs in but all zone 2 (or less!). Run fitness is rock bottom and I’m not feeling inspired to do any hard efforts. Normally by this time I would have signed up for quite a few events but only a fraction - 4 club TTs and 2 half marathons. Hoping the HMs will inspire me to start pushing again. Although I have to say I have enjoyed the time off - maybe too much!
