Trouble is, when it looks dry on the surface, all the water is just underneath.
My running isn’t quite as rural as yours @FatPom … I’m very much a tarmac fanboy
But I’ve never seen the roads and paths so underwater and it’s only been raining about 12 hours.
Yeah even the road drains are full up these days.
85k bike ride earlier. Didn’t get out early enough for a metric century. Picking up my tri bike from mechanic later so will ride back. Feeling pretty tired though, early night tonight.
I went West and avoided it … well, I was like a drowned rat and freezing after just 40 minutes (airport) and I promised myself get to Altrincham and reassess, then it really started. But by then it was a balmy 4° and I promised myself get to Lymm …
… where it was dry! Before I knew it I was in Runcorn (fork knows why!)
Looped back down to Winsford, across to Congleton, checked the time and had to “race” home to be back for 1:30pm
Missed out the Kidsgrove loop, but that’s no shame
Managed 199W NP for 145km in 6hrs 10mins ish (there’s 2km and six minutes in another ride)
Could’ve kept going at that easy pace
I did ALL OF THE HILLS
25km with Mrs T for the first 1hr 30 and then just me and the dog
Picking up the car after Friday night out in Manchester (left it at the office)
Via Salford Quays - some hardy folks out doing open water swimming including one with no wetsuit
Also passed the Barton aqueduct - when the big boats go by on the Ship Canal, the bridge carrying the Bridgewater canal swings 90 degrees so the boats can pass
Gym this morning.
2 x 2k on the rowing machine.
Then some superset stuff, bridges and sumo squats, military press and press ups, side plank and side crunches.
I did have a chat with myself: brick!
1h50 bike 1 hour run, 1h45 bike, 1/2 hour run.
All went well.
Now earned my beer(s). Happy days.
DIY and one of my son’s birthday festivities have stopped play today. Need to get something done this evening. Turbo and a brick. Posting for some accountability!!
Or, you could just eat birthday cake
Happy birthday mini Adam
Hmm, better get in the garage before Mrs has you tiling that kitchen
Fs, that’s next on the list!
I love tiling. Its therapeutic. Until it starts to go wrong then it can get fucked.
I’m still waiting for a box of tiles to arrive from Topps tiles, not looking forward to it tbh.
Its 90% surface prep. A flat, clean, solid surface. Once you have that the rest is just spread and place.
Dont get pre mixed adhesive or grout, its like whipped cream and is shite. If you get rapid set, mix in small batches (mix attachment for a drill is a solid investment here). Id also recommend spending some money on decent trade adhesive amd grout. B&Q etc own brand is crap.
Plan it out dry so you know where stuff is going. Keep your cuts to the edge if you can, a bead of silicone can hide any chips or bad cuts.
As best you can keep the edges clean, scrapping out a bunch of addy before you grout is a pain.
When placing wall tiles put them just slightly (as in mm) away from where they will go and slide them in, this creates surface tension on the addy helps keep them in place
Appreciate you didnt ask and thats a bunch of unsolicited advice in the wrong thread but I like to share.
thanks @GRamsay
Poet will be along to bollock us soon!
It comes under training ‘wax on, wax off’
Fairly standard 8 hours this week, mostly in the garage though and not a lot of intensity after the hard race last Sunday and the 5K on Wednesday.
Legs felt pretty tight on Monday\Tuesday but the 5K was a decent effort, cut short yesterday’s run so only 27K for the week but better than setting myself back.
Swimming up to about 90 minutes, call me fish🤣
