Training - What Training?!

Out on the bike.
Got a bit warm doing some lumps and bumps in Epping Forest which meant by the time I got to my water stop nearly 3 hours in, I was gasping for fluid.

Was playing catch up then.

Got some nice cold cherry coke in at 4:25 which got me home, but just felt weak due to the fluid loss.

Think I’m gonna need to add an extra stop in if I do the same route.

Anyhoo

New week. Same old swim.
5 x 300m mixed toys.
1:31/100m average pace.

18 miles on the bike at a tempo effort. Felt pretty good considering lack of road miles over the last three weeks.

Getting some nice consistency in the legs now, and starting to feel like my old self.

Week before I managed 89km of running across 5 runs in 7hrs 29

Last week I ran 6 times for 68kms in 6hrs 26 plus 1 x 46km ride taking me to an 8hr 10min week. Which is pretty decent for me.

Going to be in and out of the office a lot this week, so squeezing where I can. Trying to load up July as it gets tricky once the school holidays start and my usual routines are all thrown out of sync.

Are you done for the year?

Still got another week to go!

Sorry mate, broke up on the 5th! :grinning:. But also spent most of last week on the sofa with end-of-term-itis.

Well that was interesting.
10 hours last week ( first ever hyrox sim with 14.5 kph runs for all 8 kms was certainly the highlight) the stations were “ adapted “ slightly but still pleased.

Knocked it off towards the end of the week ready for a test two hours session on Sunday … never got out of bed?!?
Just a severe lack of motivation and “ not feeling quite right?!”

Disappointed in myself I thought I’d start this weeks effort with a nice easy hour bike … at 30 mins I felt really unwell hr sky high for 175 watt average but not really breathing at all
I stopped !
My hr dropped to 155 … and stayed there for 4 - 5 mins despite just sitting there, this is not normal.
Neg covid test
Hr still 95 ish two hours later
Sweating lots sat still
Oh well… rest and sleep it is I guess.
Shit !!!

Crappy day

Pool was like a bath this morning.
I went through nearly 2l of iced drink in a 60 minute session

Couple of weeks ago I tweaked my back so running had been cut right back as it was agony.
Furthest I’ve run this year is just over 11 miles in 1:33

Normally not an issue, but I was already woefully out of shape due to my foot and Frankfurt looms 4 1/2 weeks on the horizon.

I’ve made the decision that I won’t go if I don’t think I can put in a decent effort.

Went out today and managed an hour mostly pain free but much like this morning the sweat was pouring out of me, even doing 9:1 run:walk

Pace seems to be around 8:20 per mile, which in some respects might help on race day.

Aiming to be out for a century ride tomorrow and hopefully if I can get to 2 1/2 hours for a run by the beginning of August, I might be ok.

Bonus is I’m not at work so can throw everything into training and recovering

HIM planned on the 4th

@funkster - I once ran a 1:20:xx half marathon having not ran over 10km in the three months leading up to it, or ran pretty much at all five years before it :joy::joy::joy:
So I wouldn’t worry too much :guitar:

For me …

Easy 8km morning run. 4:46/km

Is that ~150CTL? :exploding_head:

@adam - how are you getting ready? By retiling a bathroom? Building a garage? Reroofing?

Back to it. Still not 100% post lurgy but lungs and legs are fine.

30 minute spin class, hopefully sweating it all out.

I’m going to wing it.

Quite possibly the least prepared for a full distance race that I’ll have attempted

That was my 2019 plan.
Good luck!!!

I’ll need it!

Just seen OSB have sent the start list out. I’ve got a nice low number (86) hopefully that leads to some favourable racking…

Went out for a ride.
Didn’t feel great to start, but thought I’d get better after a bit.

I did not get better.

Sweat pouring out again.
Just felt drained.

Did my usual stop at 1:55 to rehydrate and should have turned for home, but stupidly added a loop and got back about 3:15 and had to stop for some food.

Last 50 minutes home was awful

Lowest power on a ride for some time, possibly ever.

Gonna eat, drink, sleep and see how I feel tomorrow.
