Something resembling training for me this week, 8 hours.
3 swims but only 1 hour.
2:30 running but a decent session on Thursday and fairly tough parkrun, and an 8K OTBR today
4:30 bike, mostly because of a 70k ride this morning
Hoping for a long run tomorrow to maximise the bank holiday weekend.
Plan Aguille - took the cable car up to avoid a 1000m ascent. Along the Grand Balcon Nord - slow going as a very rocky path with some âinterestingâ drops to the valley below. All the way along to the Mer de Glace for a spot of lunch. The waiter asked daughter her for her phone number (he didnât get a tip). Girls took the train down while I ran back down to Chamonix - about 1000m descent.
Probably not ideal prep for the race tomorrow but given itâs more like. Bit of fun rather than something serious I donât mind.
Made the most of the BH and managed an easy 18K trail run with cake stop. Managed 33K of running in 3 days, mostly trails, so clearly working is bad for your body and running career!
We took our kids up that cable car to Aguille du Midi from Chamonix when they were aged 3,5 and 7.
In shorts and t shirts.
The moment I knew we messed up was when all the French in the cable car started unpacking fleeces and puffa jackets from their rucksacks. It was about 30C in the valley, but 3 degrees at the top of the cable car. We sat around shivering in the cafe for 2 hours then came back down again. Vividly remember watching people below us traversing some icy ridge with crampons and picks and thinking what a bad father I was.
Club duathlon tonight if I make it out of work on time. Itâs on the bike track at night, and I had a bad crash there a year ago, so have gone with the roadie not the TT bike for the upright position & better sighting. Running is still not great so have got it in mind to target bike power tonight, if I could average 250W for the 30km Iâll be super happy but probably 230W - 240W is more realistic based on recent numbers.
edit: well thatâs embarrassing. Mouth writing cheques body canât come anywhere near cashing. 195W. Everyone was suffering though in the humidity, so maybe itâs not a total write off. On the plus side, run felt good which is encouraging.
Dropped the bike off at the LBS before my holiday in Spain last week. Its being sent off for a Carbon repair. Unfortunately they were on holiday as well last week so its not gone anywhere yet.
34km of running over four runs on holiday, 6km, 8.1km, 10km, 10km on lovely trails.
