Iā€™ve rejoined my old gym, with the view to improving my overall body conditioning and I wanted to start swimming again. So today I was back in the pool for the first time in probably 2, maybe three years. It was really bad. Barely able to do a set that would have been my warm up, back in the day. Everything just felt wrong, out of balance, timing off. Itā€™s going to be a long old haul back.

So 850 meters, all as 50m reps, mixing up drills with a bit of full stroke.

Friday 6th September

:bike: 06:44 - 60 minutes easy bike ~ 150 watts
*my bike is probably the worst its been at this time of year in all the years Iā€™ve rode a bike, i.e since 2008. Feel like Iā€™m starting from scratch, a month of building some volume back should help. No road worthy bike at the moment, just a frame with a single chain ring on the trainer. *

:man_running: 13:25 - 30 minute 6km easy run 4:56/km (work lunch time)
Got stopped by police and told to cross the road as there was some one on the side of the pavement I was running on with a knife. Road was closed to traffic on the way back but I was allowed to run past. Eventful. It was hot and humid.

Another swim. 20x50m mainly doing catch up and full stroke, trying to keep my stroke long. Better than Thursdayā€™s set.

Why is it when I make my mind up to make an effort with training and start somethign structured, I either get ill or injured before I have chance to start.

Done my back in. Only saving grace is I dont think its serious. My quads/hip flexors have gone very tight and I can feel them pulling kn my pelvis. Hopefully a bit of massage and stretching and they will losen up

Week 5 back in the game. Managed 8.5 hours this week, with 34km running.Leg feels good now :crossed_fingers:t2:.

Still hot  - donā€™t think the temperature has dipped below 30C yet, even at night.

Club duathlon training coming up again on Tuesday evening. Well, itā€™s called training but in reality itā€™s a race to the death over 2km/30km/2km. Determined to beat my hamster-like power from 2 weeks ago (195W), thatā€™s the A goal for the week right there. Figuring out how to make the light stay on the Garmin might help, it will be dark & last time I hadnā€™t got a scooby what power was until the end & slightly gave up.
