Training - What Training?!

8km easy around the delightful environs of Tredegar Park and Duffryn

Tuesday 5:30am
:bike: 2 hours,

  • 3x 12 minutes just sub threshold,
  • plus 3x 18 minutes mid/high Z2 with the occasional anaerobic sprint.

Had planned a 12km run after work but work was a rough day so binned it off.

Today 1pm
:man_running: 6⅔km easy run

Now… swim, nah bin that off… its cold

  • My training is consistent.
  • They say consistency is key.
  • I don’t think “binning off” sessions consistently…
  • is what they mean by consistency.

Have I been consistent in consistently getting the use of the word / grammer wrong or does that semi make sense?

Your making sense

My run was nice when I started and pretty cold when I finished. Just walked from the hotel to the pub across the road and reckon it’ll be proper frosty in the morning :snowflake:

5km on the treadmill.

0.5km easy / 0.5km hard x 5.

On the bike last 3 days getting my life back in order lol

25 odd miles on the towpath… encountering 3pm disconsolate dog walkers swearing at me reminded me why I didn’t cycle on towpaths any more

27 odd miler hilly yesterday around milgavnie etc

And first 34 mile schoosh up the crow road today - Glasgow’s answer to Alpe d’Huez :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Few more of those then it’s an up and over for some solid 60 + mile rides providing I don’t freeze my balls off

Aren’t you mr fucking wonderful

Dont understand the comment…

my point is my training is the opposite to what the ideal would be.

Consistently missing and not doing sessions. (for no good reason, just lazy)

So if you mean Mr wonderful in crap training, yeap, thats me at the moment.

We all have periods like this.
Seems to happen more at this time of year for some reason.
Have an easy week then reset

70.3 2025 !

FWIW it’s been a “fuck it” week for me too. Big ride last weekend, some recovery work, cold weather, can’t run, work stuff…why beat yourself up? Theres always next week…

I just came to that realisation about an hour ago.

Normally Nov - Mar is my most consistent period of training, I like the cooler conditions and normally less other thing to do.

Nearly getting mowed down twice( bikes without lights) when the clocks changed didnt help. Also dog walkers with trip wire leads across the path that you cant see hasnt helped with the motivation.

Get into a rythmn and have no incidents and I’ll be good.

I felt better by the Tuesday to be honest.

A big missed opportunity to get some-were near a hyrox podium ( it was a much smaller race and age group to be honest ) but coughing fits and burpee broad jumps don’t really go in the same sentence.

One of those things I guess, the hyrox bubble seems to have burst as you can now enter last min on roxtickets ( there were spaces for Bham and Manchester recently )

Cheers for asking

Lol that Hyrox bubble didn’t seem to last long, I thought it only just started :joy:

I know someone dipped his toe in triathlon with me last year, now switching to a hyrox event next year. I can see the appeal of trying something different.

I assume it’s not as full on as IM training schedule, but with all the HIIT just as exhausting?

Still big numbers !
One fit looking 30 year old posted
“ yes finally a top 50 placing in my age group?!”

Initially seems “ modest “ but when there are 600 in your age group that’s the top 8? %
Good time too.

Still very popular
