Training - What Training?!

I probably burn more calories starting the Garmin for gym work :joy:

I know itā€™s increasingly important at our age which is why I try and do it, especially during winter. I just donā€™t record it. If I do cardio like the dreadmill Iā€™ll record that.

Saw a post 3/4? Years ago from a ā€œ good ā€œ tri coach
Probably not the best but quite good apparently.

ā€œ strength and conditioning is THE most important session for my athletes ā€œ

Iā€™m guessing this applies more to us than Adam and Ginger b as we are older !
Saw a very ā€œ similar ā€œ post in a fb hyrox thread recently and my very good older ā€œ just a runner ā€œ runner friend ( has a ā€œ mentorā€ if not a paid coach says similar.

Guess they canā€™t all be wrong ?!

I think thereā€™s reasonable research to support it for everyone.

I think itā€™s over emphasised in the online media but itā€™s good to do.

I canā€™t imagine it being the most important session unless there is something seriously wrong with an athlete, but lifting should be recorded - itā€™s the impact on your body that drives adaptation. Iā€™m not sure why else youā€™d record training?

Although itā€™s also true that recording weightlifting doesnā€™t really lead to much actionable information I supposeā€¦might serve to remind you to do it though.

Iā€™ve always been top strong leg weak ( in very general terms )
Not ideal for tri, cycling and hyrox.

Hyrox is highly leg / fatigued running biased.

Going to do a series of sessions looking at max weight I can rep for 10 all winter with some improvement hopefully
The most important session was probably just stressing how important it is to some very fast athletes who hardly lift at all, the most important bit surprises me too?!

I would record a walk if I specifically set out walk as part of a plan. 20km hike with hills etc, walking can be a vital part of ultra training but it needs to be ā€˜with purposeā€™.

We went for a family walk on Sunday and was faster than casual but didnā€™t record it because it was just a ā€˜walkā€™.

Now thereā€™s a challengeā€¦

Oh and a cold the derailed Saturday and Sunday.

Fukd Monday and Tuesday.
