I probably burn more calories starting the Garmin for gym work
I know itās increasingly important at our age which is why I try and do it, especially during winter. I just donāt record it. If I do cardio like the dreadmill Iāll record that.

Saw a post 3/4? Years ago from a ā good ā tri coach
Probably not the best but quite good apparently.
ā strength and conditioning is THE most important session for my athletes ā
Iām guessing this applies more to us than Adam and Ginger b as we are older !
Saw a very ā similar ā post in a fb hyrox thread recently and my very good older ā just a runner ā runner friend ( has a ā mentorā if not a paid coach says similar.
Guess they canāt all be wrong ?!
I think thereās reasonable research to support it for everyone.
I think itās over emphasised in the online media but itās good to do.
I canāt imagine it being the most important session unless there is something seriously wrong with an athlete, but lifting should be recorded - itās the impact on your body that drives adaptation. Iām not sure why else youād record training?
Although itās also true that recording weightlifting doesnāt really lead to much actionable information I supposeā¦might serve to remind you to do it though.
Iāve always been top strong leg weak ( in very general terms )
Not ideal for tri, cycling and hyrox.
Hyrox is highly leg / fatigued running biased.
Going to do a series of sessions looking at max weight I can rep for 10 all winter with some improvement hopefully
The most important session was probably just stressing how important it is to some very fast athletes who hardly lift at all, the most important bit surprises me too?!
I would record a walk if I specifically set out walk as part of a plan. 20km hike with hills etc, walking can be a vital part of ultra training but it needs to be āwith purposeā.
We went for a family walk on Sunday and was faster than casual but didnāt record it because it was just a āwalkā.
45 minute slow and steady treadmill run.
Iāll be very impressed when it is a row
That ā row ā
Would break every record ever set I think ?
From 500 to as far as I got
Plan was 180w for three hours but you know best laid plans and all that ā¦.
I think youāre ready for a 70.3 thenā¦
Thatās the plan.
Just which one ? Or possibly ones !? ( 2 max)
Back to back?
4 weeks ish between Deva 70.3 and Bolton half
Go to Leeds and you can do 2 in one day?
Errrr.
No !
Different animal completely.
Now thereās a challengeā¦
8 hrs 30m exactly from me last week.
Would have easily been 11 hours without the bad weather and a niggle.
Oh and a cold the derailed Saturday and Sunday.
Fukd Monday and Tuesday.
Trained twice today.
Gym first thing. Rowing, upper body and calves.
Treadmill this evening, short and sharp.
1km easy, 0.5k flat out, 0.5k easy, 0.5k flat out, 0.5k easy, 0.5k flat out.
