Training - What Training?!

Just back from a 6k tester run, first one in 2 wks. That upper thigh issue is still there but I wasn’t reduced to walking.

It’s really annoying and obviously something a bit more long term than I was hoping. I can see a lot of walking between now and Xmas!

Gym yesterday morning and again today.

Bit of rowing, bit of conditioning.

That’ll do :joy::joy::joy:

Off road ride to work. Train was late, so gave it some beans.

291W & 22km/h, wouldn’t get those stats on Zwift

On the road (real) that would be ~38 kph with my barn door cda.

Absolute mud glue on the canal.
Great fun though. Sliding about, nearly falling in :joy::see_no_evil:

First swim since the 17th of November for me this evening. Only 1000m but a swim none the less.

20km club TT last night on the bike track, ie no cars. Perfect conditions, no wind. But dark ,which was somewhat scary. About 40-50 riders set off at 30 second intervals.

10km out, dead turn - normally around a cone but last night it was a Christmas tree with LEDs - and all the way back.

243W AP, 246W NP, 39.6kmh which suggests CdA 0.253 m2 according to the calc at Endurance Data.

winner managed 43kmh :exploding_head:

Edit: just noticed on Strava that one guy appeared to have done 3 x 20km last night… turns out he rode out with the Christmas tree, rode back, did the TT, and then later rode back to retrieve the tree

30 minute spin class this morning. Tough.

5km treadmill run at lunch. Technology pissing around during the last 0.5km. Bastard thing.

My worst November in the last 7 yrs. Wow, didn’t expect that. I tired to build time, but the cards were stacked against me.
Wife said you dont seem to be the normal you, guess she was right.

Fukin hell, I might as well give up.

260w ave (much higher NP) is my PB for an hour.
Ftp test gave 295w at the time, make of that what you will, (30 minute test btw, ramp tests are bollocks, and AI based off that, good for the ego though, at the time gave me 310w)
Not much of drop for 1.5 hrs (90min) 248w

That was some ride. :heavy_check_mark: :+1:

Been climbing the walls as of late - been getting a sense quad settled down and lo and behold - after making some work in the studio - I did laps for an hr after, in it - the place is huge - like an alien spaceship

Update -

Ran yesterday/day after for 40 mins and still all good so fingers crossed. Erring in side of caution - aerobic fitness fine obviously just more a jog than running. But hopefully that’s that with some more gym seasons etc

Plenty of folk here faster than that sadly  - like spooner , Chris the fish, TRO, BolognaJeff, leahnp, tips, buzz, the doon, basically anyone on the time trials thread, and probably half the zwiftbaggers too, no names mw22 and Jorgan, must be others too who don’t wave it around so much, guess poets up there with them watts if he gets his bike off the public footpath

It’s the PM surely. My road bike one underreads, gravel one over and Zwift is just garbage.

I’ve had 335W for 20mins, but nowt more than that.

I’m 90kg, too. So that also helps with the wattage. And not moving fast.

Yeah I know.

And you really should have squeezed it above 25 mph  Still its fast to me, over 24.5 mph for a significant distance, more than 10 miles, is decent imo.

PS never rode a TT bike so that might change my perspective a bit.

Watts for show, podiums for dough.

I do all right in the numbers game but will never sniff a trophy. And I just don’t buy into the idea that our power meters are comparable, as a sport, we should only compare on results. Imho.

Yeah 40kmh is a nice round number. Never managed it mind. Tuesday was about the closest I’ve ever come because the conditions were perfect, apart from having to do a dead turn around the Christmas tree at halfway.

The P2 was a nice bike back in the day but sometimes wonder what difference a fancy space age bike might make.

Not enough to risk Mrs FT making me into a soprano with the garden shears, has always been the verdict so far.

Execution is the only thing holding me back, iirc my PB is 1h03 for 40km and the avg was only a sweet spot effort (as itt was in a tri) so a real world threshold on the tri bike should do it.

Or maybe the course was short and I’m living in a fantasy  does it really matter?
