I know what you mean… been waiting for it to get light for over an hour.
5 weeks today and we’re into March and meteorological spring, 4 weeks after that and it’s BST
I’m trying to be positive
You Sir, are a glass half full kinda guy.
Less than 21 weeks until the nights start drawing in mind…
Thanks
Should go to the gym today, but Im knackered.
Going to have a day off. Probably not even bother to get my steps, well maybe.
When it finally got light went for a 27km run.
2h28m.
Timed to just get back before the rain. Wind picked up in the last 10km, couple of heavy drops of rain in the last 5 minutes but missed the worst of it.
Confession - I have been a bad husband today
Downloaded a 21/22km route from Komoot for a Sunday morning run starting at Greenfield on the edge of the Pennines /Peaks.
Description - Expert but in my experience that is usually to do with the distance/elevation which was all manageable for us and the dog. Note also “easily accessible paths”
Started just fine, trotting around some of the resevoirs and then from the top resevoir the “path” went up Birchen Clough. It rapidly turned into a scramble on an icy path next to a 40 foot drop. Mrs T most unamused and tbh did feel a bit beyond what I was comfortable with.
The wind was really strong. Windchill felt about -5. At the top when we crossed to follow the route around the top of the plateau we encountered bogs - Mrs T up to her ankles. I manage to go better and sink up to my knee with my right leg. Hands frozen, feet numb. Mrs T had “words” about my route choice. No defence - my bad - it was a shit show.
A slow jog around the top and decided to come off the top early - the wind was now gusting so that it nearly took us off our feet. The dog has never looked so miserable. Back down to the resevoir and the wind had dropped dramatically - gentle run to warm up and headed back to the car.
15km run. 2.5 hours moving time. A lot of map consulting and very slow movement up the rocks which probably didn’t register on Strava.
Feeling a lot warmer, the journey home included a stop at Starbucks for a large latte for Mrs T. I think she has forgiven me now. The dog - I’m not so sure.
13 hour 30 for the week
Another bang average week for me although I was suffering from a really tight\sore calf from the half last weekend for most of it and the chilblains have really affected the mood, a bit like having ulcers or probably cold sores.
Just over 6 hours split pretty much 50/50 bike and run, did manage a 13k trail run today and the parkrun yesterday. A few painful massages have just about sorted out the calf so hopefully won’t be a problem and got a bit of work on the back on Friday.
Cycling was mostly easy until tonight’s Zwift race.
A couple of half-arsed gym sessions as well as the morning exercises for my core\back area but not included in the 6 hours.
Some punchy climbs there!
Yep, oh how we laughed!
Not a great week, compared to the last few. 2 strength, 1 run, 1 tennis, 0 swims.
Time at the start of the week was tight and by the end I was just too knackered.
New week tomorrow. Up and at gym first thing, tennis in the evening.
26/1 am wandering around the National Running show at the NEC
26/1 pm 5k easy run
26/1 pm 20 min turbo, was meant to be 30 mins with 2 sets of 6 reps 40s hard 20 easy, but breathing not right so bailed halfway through the 2nd set
13 hours
Two x hour bike into half marathon … which is probably a bit much for this time of year.
An easy hyrox sim
2 x spins
Started boxing again 3 x 15min east efforts but no swimming.
A good week overall
50 minute slow and steady treadmill run yesterday.
Today, back on the treadmill. 5k run, as 1k steady, hard, full gas, hard, steady.
Yesterday 6k run easy
Today 19k run
Got out for my 1sr run since Jan 4th.
A classic run with my not a club club. Filthy wet and muddy underfoot. Somehow only ended up on my arse the once! Was like Bambi on ice in my peg trails. Loved it though.
Wa worried how I was going to cope with the 5 other lads bit it was a bit a pretty social pace. I was still blowing on the hills but kept up OK.
Just over 15kms with about 560m elevation.
No strava though as I’ve got the doomed blue triangle!
Trying to get back into training post having the flu. Very stop start with it this year with viruses doing the rounds.
Got out and did a 30 min run at lunch
9km tempo-ish run
