Bit of a :poop: training day tbh.

Wanted to spend a day with the family (not me stuff) so shopping and driving to said shops.

Got 30 minutes indoors done… 3x 6 minutes around threshold.

Wanted to get a run done but cooked tea instead. Plus why is driving so draining… I’d rather do a 70.3, can’t be arsed with a run but I want to.

Yeah, there’s a thread for it but TC :roll_eyes: and MrMe did it, just been speaking to someone I know about it as well.

Hilly bike but some of the roads had been fixed.

Got the impression the run was average. See if any of the route changes.

But generally decent.

At the park. 5 mins warm up and into a threshold run supposedly my 5k test. Stopped 8 mins later. Just don’t want to do it. :man_shrugging:t2:

Nice wind up keeping the sun and blue skies cool.

Thought about replying earlier & decided against it. But now I have had a couple of Buds in the hot tub & judgement is impaired enough to do so.

Dunno if it helps, please ignore if not. But I went through a phase of setting out to do X and then canning it half way through because X felt really unpleasant.

Well, thought about it, and no-one’s holding a gun to our heads saying ā€œyou have to do Xā€. Could do Y instead & the world won’t care too much.

From that point on I decided it was perfectly OK not to carry on doing X if I didn’t want to, but would still make use of the fact that I was out in running clothes etc by devoting the full time it would have taken to do X, to do Y instead.

So X might have been 8 x 800m with 90 seconds rest. Y becomes a couple of laps of the park at Z1 pace looking at the birds overhead :man_shrugging:t2:

Since then I almost always finish a session - it’s just not always the session I started , if that makes any sense :man_shrugging:t2:

(Y however may not be a trip to 'Spoons, it has to be some form of self-improvement of an athletic bent.)

Managed to squeeze in a 75k ride at the end of the day. Steady pace with a couple of hills.

Gym nice and early.

Rowing warm up, 2 x 2:30.
3 sets each of db bench press, bb bicep curls, kb deadlifts, kb sumo squats.

After each set, 3 x reps of db push press, db arnold curl, kb thrusters.

Sunday club trail run, 1h55. Power of the cro…club.

Wasn’t feeling sociable but the group got me out and round. No physical struggles, left the water belt at home as I was in a rush but took the gel flask. Nice route, lots of up and down.

I’ve found myself doing this with turbo sessions.

Set out to do 2x20 or 4/5 minute sweet spot intervals and after one it just feels too hard and you mentally throw in the towel. I’ve always finished with something much easier just to get some sort of ride in. Like you say, no one else cares.

@Poet would be hanging his head in shame at me right now. I’m 44km into a ride homeward bound and have stopped for lunch :innocent: I’ve no idea how Spooner et al go for 300km a day, day after day…

I stopped for about 3 mins yesterday to grab a coke and some solid food about 55km in… The Poet-guilt was real. Waterboarding myself to ensure I could get that non moving time down to a minimum.

I think I had around 12 minutes stop time yesterday over 90km. Today’s effort will be an embarrassment.
