Run kit is still wet this morning ![]()
Woke up at 4-ish to the sound of rain/hail battering the windows & gutters. Got up for a wee & wee look outside. Decided there & then to turn off alarm & sack off the 06:15 swim.
Not the most disciplined start to ‘26 ![]()
I’ve got back into bed and might stay here all day ![]()
The GF is working in the other room. The heating is also on!
Honestly, I’m with you. Took everything I had to roll onto the indoor bike. Zero chance of leaving the house this morning.

I don’t think I’ve ever been as ecstatic about a 26 min 5km as I am right now!
Never will I take running and exercising for granted again! So, so, so happy lacing up my shoes and heading out the door.
Fingers crossed that the back and all it’s bits stay where they’re supposed to be overnight now! No soreness when running despite the cold. Nothing immediate hitting me as my body starts to cool down beyond a bit of stiffness in the back.
I really really hope this is the light at the end of the tunnel. Lots of work and rehab to go. But I’ve got a smile on my face!
I know exactly what you mean & do genuinely feel grateful each time I go for a run these days, after initially thinking it might have been game over about 18 months ago with that hip injury. Every run’s a bonus now!
I managed a 12k trail loop on one of my regular routes, longest I’ve ran since the aborted race in Italy. Generally alright as well, couple of little aches and was careful to keep the pace very easy and walk some of the steeper bits.
Does feel good to get back going again. Just need to avoid being an idiot as usual, especially as I’ll be back at work next week and sat on my backside again!
That’s something like 44k in the last 6 days, most of which was off-road.
5k run - snowy loops round the local park to avoid the icy pavements, 1st 4 loops with zl then 2 more on me tod
30 min turbo - MyWhoosh - 4min 3030’s
30 minutes 3x 5min threshold

Slow going but very rewarding
I also love running in the snow albeit only a tiny bit so far
Spin class this morning. Only 30 minutes but legs are still in bits from leg day at the gym yesterday.

Sunday pm easy and short 3k run with zl

Back to work next week ![]()
The cold weather really impacts my motivation to train, I was in the garage for a short spin tonight and had my thermal leg warmers on ![]()
But the last two weeks have been 10 & 9 hours respectively, so that’s not bad given I was away for a few days and only running 8K, gave blood and Christmas\NYD of course.
Was probably a 60/40 split for cycling. A couple of gym sessions but even that was closed\reduced hours so not much opportunity.
The patellar tendon feels a bit sore so I’ll avoid running for a few days now and it should ease, will either go in the garage or back to the cardio stuff indoors like the X trainer\stairmill etc and see how that goes. That does depend on how busy the gym is.
