Swim – 0.0km
My swimming club was on holiday for August & I never made a single public session.
Bike – 504km
Managed to do just enough on the last day to reach 500km for the second month running.
The quote above was from my July update and you would think that after all this time I would be able to recognise the early warning signs that I need to rest more and train less, but no…
Run – 47km
I’ll start with the good news, which is that this is my biggest running month of 2026.
(Still a long way short of anything resembling a decent month for me, but it is a start.)
This was also achieved via ‘little & often’, as my average running session was just 25 mins.
The bad news is due to a combination of still not lifting my feet properly & ‘wonky’ paving…
My right foot caught on ‘something’, but rather than being saved by my left foot landing cleanly, my left foot got caught on something else and that was it, I was going down hard.
There wasn’t even enough time for that knowing look to the audience.

I just about managed to get my arms up quickly enough to protect my head from faceplanting on the concrete paving, but took the full force of the impact on my hands, elbows & knees.
Thankfully, I was very close to home, so I jumped up and carried on, but was very sore for days afterwards, as I think I jarred my back a little too.
Time – 27h 37m
2nd month running where I only trained for 24/31 days, with just 9 x double days.
But, to be honest, I clearly needed some extra rest, so probably for the best.
Overall – These days, I am more philosophical about taking what training life allows, so I take the positives from the fact that the last four months of 2026 have been better than the first four and I won’t lose any sleep over the fact that 2025 was significantly better all around.

Cheers, Paul.
