Saturday
Open water swim - 475m my best open water swim of the year, the very high salt makes it so buoyant compare to lakes and even other sea swims and the swell wasn’t too bad just under half a meter.
Sunday
Nothing. IM Cancelled and all outdoor activities
Swim – 0.0km
My swimming club re-started in September, but I didn’t make it to a single session.
Bike – 636km
2nd highest month on 2026 and 13th highest since Jan.14.
Where anything over 500km in a month is good for me.
Run – 61km
Still trying to rebuild this, edged my average run time up from 25mins in Aug. to 30mins in Sept.
Helped by running up Harrow Hill twice this month, compared to just once in the rest of 2026.
Hard to believe I ran up Harrow Hill 27 times in 2024 & 31 times in 2025!
But I’m still grateful to have slowly slogged my way to my biggest running month of 2026.
Time – 35h 17m
Training for 29/30 days, including 10 x double days, equals my biggest month of 2026.
By chance, it is also my 13th highest since Jan.14, where anything over 30 hours is good for me.
Weights
I am (very) slowly building up my use of dumbbells to help both protect my fragile shoulders from repeated injury and to finally get some vanity “guns”.
Although, I’ve currently barely moved from peashooters to Saturday Night specials.
Overall – I’m still trying to take a philosophical approach that my available training time will be linked to what that life allows me, so I take the positives from September and move on.
Yep. Pretty relaxed week here exercise wise with nothing aside from the commutes. Suffering for the first time with planter fasciitis on my left foot which is only really giving me minor grief when I’m walking barefoot. Uni work has ramped up quickly and is taking a sizeable amount of my mental load.
Back more to exercising than training for now, bit of meh going on but TDZ has got me in the garage for 35-40 minutes the last 2 nights.
I had planned on an easy period although that was assuming I did the IM. So, it’ll just be a bit of whatever I fancy without forcing myself to do double days or feeling like I should do a long ride, swim or run. I will get into the gym at some point as well.
Nothing much on the horizon and anything I do will just be a bit of fun.
With a bit of luck the knee will continue to heal. The next 6-7 months is going to be a slog at work as well with several big migration projects on the go so not focussing on anything in particular will be a bonus.
I dont know what my longest continous break is but I know it will have been 2017 (edit my Strava streak goes back to July 2017, longest gap probably a month or two off training, and six months not really training.)
I need to do sone kind of session before Sunday otherwise I lose my Strava streak (which is really important )
