11 done, about to start my twelfth.
I’m not actually too bad, but of chaffing from my base layer but I’ve had far, far worse (such as the torrential rain experienced at the Leicester half marathon, testicles were red raw).

Good to hear. Keep it up.
It’s probably still better than watching Frozen mini films for the 20th time this week at 5am!
Great stuff @APM - stay strong!
What a year. I started this year planning a break from Ironman with an alternative focus on running events. The primary aim was a sub 3 marathon attempt in late May, but it all fell apart.
I ran Pilgrim Challenge in February, and while slower than my previous attempt I finished further up the standings, and it felt much easier. Conditions on day 2 were really rough, so I think this was pointing towards a good level of base run fitness.
Then Covid blew my event out of the water and I lost my mojo. Stopped running and didn’t run again for 7 months. Have run twice in November, and that is it.
Over the spring and summer I kept my fitness high with cycling (and lots of Zwift), but just for fun and without structure.
Then lots of waves of fatigue would roll in, and I would lose 1 or 2 weeks each month. I caught Lyme disease while trail running last year and while I caught it early and treated it, I think it is still lingering. Waiting to get further blood tests to check.
Now, just pootling along with no plans, general fitness is fine for maintenance mode but I would need 6 good months to get back to race fitness, and there seems little point in starting that process when there is no certainty.
Pretty shitty year all round.
Swim this morning
2km swim continuous (8:08/8:04/8:03/8:03)
500m pull, paddles and drag shorts from hell
1500m pull & paddles
Feel your pain. The thing I have missed most has been the social aspect of club runs and swims, haven’t done either since March. Zwift has kind of come to the rescue there a bit though.
You’ll get back into it mate. I’m in a hell of a funk right now and trying to dig myself out but I’ve come to realise that forcing it, isn’t the way.
BTW, I was just looking at Pilgrim Challenge for March. It doesn’t look great VFM with all the restrictions, is it a good event?
I’ll give a quid an hour…!
Keep going !!!
Don’t be shy @APM stick the link up & I’ll bung in a fiver.
Thank’s for the sponsorship guys, secretly really pleased to have topped £500!
get that target changed … it works better to encourage people to sponsor when you’ve almost hit it rather than past the target!
I looked up through the thread, did I miss the link for donations?
4 messages up from yours I think
Cheers guys, just gone through mile 20. That was for you boys.
Great effort. My nan died of MND at the age of 57, so more than happy to bung some money your way.
