Training - What Training?!

Enjoying training at the moment. Feel like I’ve stepped up another level and the PMC is on a nice upward trend

Is that CTL over 100 now :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
That’s what I aim at for an Ironman

It’s what I aimed for being ready to train for something, not that I ever did train for anything obviously.

Sweets cheeses.
Not sure if you’re being serious or not :face_with_raised_eyebrow::face_with_monocle:

Before training for Cotswold 113 in 2019, my CTL started off at 80, before ramping up to a huge 90 :joy:
I had my best ever 70.3 result.

I ran a half marathon PB off a declining run CTL.
Dropped from 30 on 1st Jan to 21 by race day in March.

I don’t think it’s the be all and end all.
I just take confidence in seeing at at the ~100 level when it’s near race day.

Had mine up near 140 before IMs
Don’t really mean a thing
TSS and CTL aren’t the greatest as mentioned

I am pretty much, although it’s only possible when there’s lots of time free, but what I want is to be able to go out and do things at any time, so if someone says “come for a ride with me”, I can go out and do it in the way I enjoy. For me, anything more than twice my CTL for sport specific cycling and maybe two-and-a-half my CTL for running means I need to actively pace my effort to avoid tailing off at the end.

Because I don’t like tailing off, or actively pacing, I therefore want to keep my CTL high enough to take any opportunity. Time and depression has had me a long way off that for awhile now.

This strikes a chord.
I try to keep up my 80-100km rides throughout the winter (maybe one a month) so I can do them with ease in the spring and summer.
I really notice other people suffering along after a winter of Max 1-2 hour rides :disappointed:

Makes sense to me now :+1:t3:

Steady up the Alpe, this evening.

Going to give it a big go on the TDZ tomorrow morning and if I’ve got enough left in the tank, get the final 700m ticked off for the Tron.

One hour stretchy band circuit mostly swimming strength stuff with some stretching

Half hour easy abs, wasn’t so easy towards the end.

Couldn’t face the turbo today.

11 turbos in 15 days is… draining

Back at it tomorrow.

0:48 244w 154hr
0:57 180w 133hr
1:01 241w 153hr
So good solid improvement over the 3 “races”, the other two rides were whilst I was in a meeting, so was spinning easy enough to be able to talk when I had to. Still not able to maintain a steady power on a turbo, or really improving much on that, but maybe a little bit. Need to get a better fan controller to adjust the speed rather than just have it on or off really, especially for the meeting turbo - “unmute and silence fan” would be a good feature.

Bit of a turbo week here, zero running, 178k on the turbo, 2x group rides (races) a TT and a Crit

Hour RPE3-4 jog for me this morning.
Two weeks back and 100km in and I’ve knocked off 12s/km

Same shoes, similar course

I was intending an hour or so on Zwift but had connection trouble again, so I went for a reset on the router, which caused no end of hassle and calls to Virgin and their ‘helpful’ self service diagnostic. I couldn’t talk to anyone. (I bet I get talk to someone if I wanted to upgrade!)

Got there in the end and Zwift is connecting fine. I tried it for 15mins but TBH, had lost interest. Sometimes it doesn’t take much to break my resolve to get shit done.

Might try later, might run with LO if the rain stops.
