77mins 16.1km 139a HR 4:47/km walk/run

1 minute walk, 9 minutes run.

As I’ll be walking out of T2 at IMUK, starting to walk out of my front door and sticking my cap and belt on as moving.

It’s getting a bit specific now :scream:
9 weeks to go

Cracker of a morning ride for me. Frickin freezing though - it’s bloody May!

Wrong gloves, spring ones were not good enough so froze my hands. Didn’t wear overshoes so lost all feeling in my feet for the entire ride.

In the upside it was a gorgeous morning. Mist (and ice and frost) in the valleys. Sea was looking fine, lovely sunrise.

Rode with a mate, so nice social catch up. Rode super easy between the hills so super low avg speed, also mate is a new rider and anxious descender. He was fine climbing though.

Pics don’t do it justice at all.

60.4kms
1300m elevation
21kph
165 AP / 227 NP (tells the story!)

I’ve moved away from run/walk a bit.

Not sure whether to go back before the sub 3 attempt

My run/walk now includes some dynamic stretches. Not conclusive, but first time I’ve managed a decent long run with pain not really going past a niggle.

9 weeks @Poet … What a luxury. SEVEN…shiiiiiit

Out of bed & onto the turbo.

45mins NP=196 & IF=0.70

Quick change into running kit carrying vest with a soft flask of 500ml energy drink & taking a Shot Blok every 20mins.

1hr56mins, 23km & 240mtrs climb.

Felt a bit shit, think it must be a bit of a cold I have & not a hangover.

Anyway, that’s the way I hope to alternate my long run for the next few weeks, starting fasted, one week hills & one week ROTB.

I did think that when I saw your “long” ride to Ashford :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What did you think?
A bit of traffic admin?

I’m only doing a 10 day taper…also got a 325km ride planned for 21st June (13 days before) but currently debating the sanity of that one

I’m building…it’s more comfort than endurance that’s the issue. Gone from barely 2 hours to 4 in couple of weeks. Should get 5 hours next week.

Yeah route was good. Bit of a grind at the start with the bike fully loaded. Didn’t realise how much we’d climbed after Matlock, till we turned.
Yeah traffic was pants on the way back in Matlock then Belper.
Will use it again tho

I went from riding out to the TT (30mins), warm up lap (16mins), TT (24mins), then home (30mins) - so total of 1hr 40mins max, to 5 hours.
Have you not been Zwifting in the aero position :rofl::rofl:

(I’m kidding!)

Yeah - that bit from Makeney to Matlock is a long slow drag uphill.
Traffic would be busier in Belper on a Saturday, aye.
But…gotta weight that up against Matlock/Bakewell Sunday tourists.
I think they’ve put islands in the road at Matlock now, so no more cutting down the middle
It was always a nice respite from the aero position though :+1:t3:

4 hour plus ride, 25.4 kph !

Hr was lowest in modern history though, probably due to the fact that I was freezing!

Set off with my mate in bright sunshine, assos short sleeved top and fingerless gloves!

No overshoes !!

15 mins later the sky went black and it hailstoned for 10 mins, after dropping my younger faster HEAVIER buddy on the steep climb … twice … ( hurray ) … he saw his ass … and left me for dead… never saw him again
( boo)

Bad clothing choice, saw me breaking downhill, when my fingers worked, as I was quite simply freezing !

I never really warmed up, but still enjoyed the ride.

Bike is stinking now, it’s never been wet before, poor thing must be in shock !!

He’s on for 6 hours !

Strewth !!

20 hours this week

12 bike
2 boxing
2 stepper
1 full distance swim and one 3 k swim .

Plus core and stretch

9 weeks !!!

Run 2 of the day.
(Ignore the “2hr run/walk from run 1, that’s just the workout on my Garmin I use)

ETA: went to John Lewis to look at sofas and flooring…they had Theraguns!!!
Used one of them for a bit, I’ve no shame, HOLY COW!!! Think I’ll get one of them. They’re mint.

So, this week had three aims;

  1. swim 2km in the lake :white_check_mark:
  2. do 161km on the TT bars :white_check_mark:
  3. do a 24km double run day :white_check_mark:

Next nine weeks aims?

  1. Translate pool speed to open water endurance
  2. Do some hills on the TT bike
  3. Build up the runs to 30-35km

B) Drop a few kg whilst maintaining power

Can anyone explain this to me? 6 secs slower today (I thought I was going to pb) for 30w extra. Going so slow, aero can’t be a thing surely?!

Was the last big hill of my ride today (and any rides where I head East).

I’m rather certain I’m not 10kgs heavier than December! :joy:

And I thought you were posh, I mean I know cheshire posh isn’t proper posh, but then real posh wouldn’t be buying sofas anyway. Illusions shattered. Good running though.

Wind and pacing can make significant differences up hills, compare the two rides to see where you lost it.

steady 10 miles not pushing it as first proper run in 2 weeks due to iffy back

felt really comfortable - actually set quite a few segment PB’s, silver, bronze so really pleased with that and more importantly my back felt absolutely fine

caught in painful hailstorm on the way home :frowning:

all systems go for Thames Path 100 next week
