Training - What Training?!

One hours easy stretch and core, immediate doms… strange I know? From this mornings circuit … had to sack the afternoon session.

Listen to your body I guess.

Should do the trick though :crossed_fingers:

Didn’t know where to put this but figured here is a good a place as any. I am going to be near Oakhampton next week. @Jorgan or @gingerbongo do you guys know of any decent trail runs around there. Doesn’t have to be anything too taxing 10-15km is long enough. Also, a nice qiuetish beach not too far away? (I know we’re not near the coast)

GB probably better placed than me nowadays. You could run up Yes Tor & High Willhays; more of a fell run, but stunning on a clear day.

Yeah getting onto the Moor is pretty simple from Oke. I’ll have a dug about for a simple nav route (unless you have the skills/desire to go a bit further).

As for beaches, Oke is about the furthest town, in Devon, from any beach! :joy: You’re looking at 1.15 drive I’d say to get to the coast. But as you’re in the middle, you could go either way.

I looked at the map… actually north east Cornwall is your best bet. Bude is 45 mins away, though that won’t be quiet. Anywhere between Polzeath and Bude look to be a sub 60 drive. Crackington, Tintagel etc. Depends what you’re after. Loads of little coves of you’re willing to go a tad remote and have a bit of a hike - just scroll on Google maps. Polzeath, Bude or Widemouth for more tradish sandy beaches.

Bit of a longer drive (75 - 90 mins) and you can hit south Devon up - hope cove, south Milton, Thurlestone, bigbury, bantham are all nice. Similar drive to Saunton, Woolacombe, Croyde on the north Devon coast. All nice.

I kept willing my body up and out the door this morning but recognised that I’m feeling absolutely exhausted after a very busy week straight off the back of my camping trip, decided to let it go. May go out later for a small run when I feel more with it.

Ski erg
2 k at 2:22 per 500 pace?

Or am I reading it wrong?

Another easy 5 miles with the dog this morning. She is a very reluctant running partner so 10min/mile is very stop start. But, it’s all I have time for today

Yes 2:22 per 500mtr. I’ve found getting 8min for 2k is surprisingly tough, when fatigue sets in the speed of the flywheel gets harder and heavier to catch.

I’m doing lots of 4:30 kms… as part of a constant circuit on the ski

4 would be all out for me, midjit!!

Lol

Otter woke up just before 8:50, getting her out of the house so I could lock the door (we’ve not sorted her out a key yet, so she couldn’t lock up if I left her to it) took a few minutes, so by the time I’d run the 1.9km to parkrun start, everyone was gone, as I didn’t actually know where the start was, but quick check with all the folk got me started and I was off after the tail, passed over 300 people, not actually much room, felt absolutely awful, 21 something (although the 1.9km to get there were run faster than the actual parkrun) although the official was 23, I’m sure I could’ve run faster if I’d just barrelled through people with my elbows out. I think I would’ve actually been pretty close to @BadAsh had I not been a couple of minutes late. Who knows really, no idea how fast the course is, but I do actually expect I’m in sub 20 pace still really, no reason to assume not. I did however manage to catch and overtake someone wearing a kona finishers full kit.

Otter had barely made it to the park, so she wanted to carry on wandering around and look for some breakfast, so I carried on and ran a few more different laps, and then home for shower - 14km in 1:03 total. Walked back to Otter who’d only managed to find ice cream for breakfast in the park.

Maryka back from her ride, I was off to Aldi, made my first real mistake walking around so far, and ended up carrying ~13kg’s a couple more km’s than necessary. But I can call it training.

Then I was off on the bike - one aldi nutrigrain bar clone, and one aldi grenade bar clone, and a can of coke, and I was off on Maryka’s “30km loop”, actually felt okay, went the wrong way and had to turn around, and it turned out there was a massive hill at 28km that she forgot to mention [*], still, it was good to get out. 183AP, 204NP for 1h14 felt way harder than that should’ve done.

[*] okay, even for very unfit me it was less than 3 minutes, but it felt hard

That’s a complicated days training. Bit complex here too.

I got ready to go back to local park run, printed off bar codes and everything, was just about to head out the door when something made me check it was actually happening. It wasn’t. So did a 7km pootle round town with Mrs FT instead.

When we got back junior #3 was keen to go for a ride. Mrs FT enjoying tandem at the moment so we both went on that. Quite a hilly route. When we got back she said “those hills weren’t hard at all”. Oh yes they were I thought, having just lugged 130kg of people and maybe 20kg of tandem up them, but just smiled and nodded.

Bit of heavy gardening

Then this afternoon, a 50 minute Zwift race. When I got on the bike I was convinced my power meter was under-reading by about 50 watts. So convinced that I stopped and recalibrated it. But no, I’m just rubbish :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: or maybe feeling the after effects of the tabdem . Settled into a group and finished middle of the field.

BBQ. Been a good day.

Woke up early for an event I’m Deadpooling at today, so went for a run to see how I felt

No real effects from last night, so still no idea what the issues, other than dehydration, might have been

2hr surf, tried a new stick, we are still getting to know each other! It’s gone fat now. Might do a light trail run later.

14km in 1.03, you should be doing sub 20 in your sleep!
