Training - What Training?!

Thanks @gingerbongo for those suggestions

This definitely feels like the sort of running I have been missing in training. Not quite interval pace but much faster than steady run pace.

I set out this evening trying to have a go at “the Rowland” which if I understood is 3 X 9 minutes with 2 mins rest, getting progressively faster through the 9 mins.

In the end I shortened it a little and did

3*(3 mins at 15kmh, 2 mins at 15.5kmh, 1 min at 16kmh, 1 min at 9 kmh) then a 10 minute w/d

Some good ideas on that site :+1:

Ten likes for a rest day…

And a hissed up reply.

As it happens the wedding ( I normally get very bored and grumpy)… was very good.

Top notch venue, free food and drink of the 5 star variety, simple beautiful ceremony and no drama.

The bride and groom both work as scientists at a nuclear power station…. Pleasantly surprised…. I’ll shut up now as I’m a touch worse for wear.

Rocked up at parkrun and ran it tempo at 4:00/km 153bpm, still felt hard :see_no_evil:

9 miles / 7:05 mile pace / 128HR but felt way harder

Now off to raise money for Macmillan

Woke up with a stinking headache but drove to park run. Little One wanted to go for a pb, previous was 30.30 and today she went 29.10 on my watch.
Amazing effort and she got so many cheers on the way round. Proud Dad moment :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

29km Longest run to date, not flat either with over 600m

Long runs are flipping hard and boring and I set off with a song in my head which only went when the going got tough about 2 hours later.

Gets me to 63km for the week which I’m pretty happy with. Probably won’t do anything to orris with a birthday party and a wedding to go to

Long road runs are boring, hit the trails!

It’s maybe 75% Road with a loop round Trent Park and going through Hadley Common. Even so, thr last 10k was a bit painful.

did you vary the pace?

Not on purpose. Slower up hills, faster down

Steady long runs can do your head in a bit. Throw in some MP efforts here and there and the time goes faster IME.

Absolutely glorious morning ride today. I’ve missed the last 3 weeks, and been real jealous speaking with the guys after, so was good to finally get out again. Pretty nippy at the start, but the sun rising over the misty fields was just something else. Didn’t get round to grabbing any pics though!

60km of riding with over 1,200m of punchy Devon climbs. Having not ridden properly for almost a month, it was very noticeable! But I didn’t do too badly up the big climbs.
