Good two weeks of running šāāļø- will edit but 12 mile autumnal night time stomp last night, day before a 9 mile etc etc
58 min 11km run after the rain stopped this morning.
8 km walk with the dogs this pm
Iām out of isolation today!
Planning to go for an easy 10km and test out my lungs.
After a week off and being ill, itās going to be hard getting back into it
Morning Halloween run with Mrs T.
The dog took one look out of the front door and went back to bed.
Absolutely drenched - blowing a Gale, heavy rain, hail storm
88km 27.5km/h ride for me.
Jesus it was wet
First week of winter training done, complete with extra 2kg of blubber.
20 min bike test done - horrifically paced trying to hang onto too much of last seasonās power then death by 1000 stabs in the second half dwindling to 25w loss over off season.
Also 20 min run test and swim CSS test (400/200). I hate that first week of testing when all the off season gluttony and sofa surfing cones home to roost.
Still zones new set and weāre offā¦.
Yeah I am dreading the zone tests
Urgh that felt hard. Clearly recovering from virus. Local 10k route, 4 mins slower, 5 beats higher average HR.
All marathon training fitness evaporated. New line in the sand. Time to build it up.
2 days of 90min sets on the turbo with a L2 run off the bike. Really pleased with a low effort 10km at 43:30 as it was feeling feeling pedestrian. 1 week to go
A lowly 3.5hrs this week, after a crazy busy week at work and a family wedding over the weekendā¦. but closed out with an hour on the treadmill this afternoon that felt really relaxed and easy. Maybe a cutback week was just what I needed!
So I did a 10 week run block for a half marathon. Never consciously tried that before. Weeks 1-8 I ran 65km per week on average, & 6 runs. Average pace around 5 mins/km although Dorset is quite hilly, so probably more like 4m50/km grade adjusted.
Hereās how it went:
Weeks 1-7: felt good.
Week 8: 90km, legs felt stiff like grandadās before he passed away.
Week 9: 40km, legs felt stiff like grandadās, 48 hours after he passed away.
Week 10: emergency taper, can I resuscitate the legs? 17km / 2 slow runs.
Race day was not sure what to expect, having felt so unambiguously dreadful-of-leg for the last fortnight. But it turned out OK. Maybe the taper had worked itās magic because for the first 5km (18m45) I felt great. That tempo pace which always felt so disgusting in training, felt really nice. Result.
Through 10km in 38m 20, still feeling OK, and then through 10 miles in 62.50 - a PB- but now starting to feel hard. In the last 5km it felt like the funeral director had finally got round to filling the legs with embalming fluid. Both hamstrings were on the verge of cramp for the last 2km but just about brought it home.
Not sure what to take from this, but I think essentially I set out to train for a half marathon, but inadvertently trained for a 10km instead. Only did a couple of long runs over 20km (I get boredā¦). Also, the 90km weeks were a little too much & nuked my legs.
So if ever having another crack at a HM, think Iād possibly run a bit less overall but make the long runs longer.
1h23m44s. 2nd best HM so far, PB of 1h22 was set 15 years ago when I was 33.
Runalyze is currently predicting 1h30m15s which is a little puzzling⦠as right now feel like the legs would struggle to get round in 5 hours. Poor old crock.
Awesome running! Well done, Nick!
Thatās brilliant, well done.
I cycled my way to a HM PB.
Longest run was 13km in the 13 week ābuildā
And I had a 12km one, too.
Mainly did 6km (400/800s) 6km (easy) 10km (tempo)
And about 10-12 hours of cycling per week.
Much easier than that running nonsense
Great effort, a nice to see itās possible to get near a PB even 15 years later.
No cheat shoes back then mindš¤
Great effort !
Brilliant effort @fruit_thief.
I just did a humid 8km on the treadmill. Nice and easy.
A 45 min boxing circuit ( so nice when someone youāve put a bit of work into just
ā clicksā )
Then a 45 min wall ball practice circuit with son technique and stretches finishes a good week for me.
One long swim were im maintaining for sure, a few good static bikes and a speedy by recent standards 10 k.
Hyrox intervals are improving too.
The second comp was in Birmingham yesterday 50-55 winner averaged 5:22 per km for the 8k?!? But smashed the stations to pieces, this has to be a plan as heās quite a small guy.
Onward
And happy halloweāen x
45mins on Zwift easy.
Lvl28 and got some socks
