Utterly grim outside, couldn’t face a run or even the walk to the pool

Getting back on it today.

I’ve had two months ‘off’ - aiming to bring back some structure to my weeks, nothing fancy but regular swim, bike, run with an hour of yoga too. Need to start setting that alarm and get back to making the most of the mornings, standards have slipped!

45 minute bike clean after yesterday.
Brake blocks are knackered after just two months :scream::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Bottom bracket and headset are still sweet.
Cassette is clean, chain is in the waxer.

Just need to superglue the rear mudguard where the brake clip has worked loose from the plastic guard :+1:t3:

Keeping it super quiet

Might need to check the wear indicator on the rims

What’s that then???
The rims are concave, so probably worn.

They’ll be reet!

Usually little indents in the rim

Usually a groove all the way round or sometimes holes. Once they’ve gone its new rim time.

I never really knew it was a thing until I started winter commuting. Like you I had brake blocks lasting weeks due to the grit and then thought, I wonder if the rims wear out. Googled it, went to find the groove. There wasnt one.

I commuted on a fixie mostly, so brake blocks weren’t an issue.

On my winter bike, I don’t do hills, so wouldn’t expect any braking to be too harsh and wear through the rims!

I’ve never replaced a set of hoops due to wear.
More spokes snapped and it’s easier just to replace the whole thing.

I mean, a set of RS10s are £100 new.
If you get three years out of them, you’re winning.

I suspect for most people other things break before the rims wear out, and just replace the wheels.
