First time having the heater on in the garden gym this morning. Zwift Tri Bike Session #2
Not sure where to put this, but thought here is probably the best place!
I put myself through the Rapha Festive 500 for the first time ever last year.
I only had five days to do it, it snowed or was 0° every day. I managed 440km, all outdoors.
Despite all that, I really enjoyed the experience and found it really set me up for January and ready to “train”
This year, I’m off work from 17th December, so would prefer to do it a week early instead.
Thoughts?
Obvs I’m not gonna get a roundel or the badge, but I’ll still be riding 500km in less than 8 days.
Why not, make the most of it. Badge means nothing.
500km outside in December, nails💪
Will definitely be Strava stalking for that. Good luck.
Cheers - here’s my diary entries from last year (I went out again on Day 4, once the snow had melted)

Apart from that utterly freezing day on the main roads, it was fun.
I’d have easily completed it if I owned a gravel bike

It went:
Wake up at 0540
Eat, get ready, check bike
Generally dry outside
Get bike outside
Starts snowing
Set off at 0740
It’s now two inches deep.
Thats just what I took from reading your diary notes ![]()
For an obviously posh guy… your a tuff bastid
Fair play !!
I’m not posh!
To be fair, that experience, coupled with the fact on every damn Friday I took off to prep for Bolton it rained or hailed, has made me very soft
He (was) from Yorkshire once
Although he’s a Lancastrian now
6km runch. Pretty slow first couple of kms, definitely not the weather be breathing deep or running on cold muscles.
32.37 at 5.25 pace
4km pull and paddles
500m splits - 7:48 / 7:56 / 7:58 / 7:57 / 7:57 / 8:00 / 7:56 / 8:00
10 x 150m swim
Alternating effort and toys.
Average 1:33/100m.
Only one second per length to find now ![]()

Eh???
I’ve lived in Cheshire for four years now ![]()
And when I came out of the pool, it shows ![]()
It’s still not Yorkshire
Same here, just got mine in now that the garage is merely soggy.
Squats, overhead press and dead. Starting to feel the press, I’m about 5kg from my previous limit, long ways to go for squats and dead’s though I’m at about 50% capacity.
First run in 2 weeks. I’m not dead, my legs didn’t fall off.
In fact it was worryingly good. Low Z2 for 10km just to make sure the hammy was good.
Sunny as well.
Bloody hell, glad I went running at lunchtime. Just walked to the shop and it’s pretty cold and windy out now.
Forecast is a flat 7º here afternoon through the night.
We had a pretty hard frost on the windscreens this morning. Feels cold to me but I’m old and frail.
