Training - What Training?!

103km outdoor ride
3hrs 32mins

For some bizarre reason, Strava thinks I only rode for 3hrs 12mins and has me at 32.2kmh average :see_no_evil:

Check out the photos :biking_man:t4::fog:

I was blowing out of my ass trying to keep to 30kmh. Think I managed 28-29 in the end.

Less beers to be consumed tonight.

Winter Solstice.
Shortest Day = Longest Ride :speak_no_evil:

Trying to stay with a group does help with the boredom but usually means going faster than planned.

Yeah - I know.
Hence the ā€œless beers to be consumed tonightā€ comment :relaxed::beers::see_no_evil::nauseated_face:

I made a start on the garage re-arrangement, then had the bright idea of sweeping the yard without gloves. chilly!

30 minute spin class.

Feeling a bit off (PCR test on its way), but output and HR were fine.

Actually made it to the gym early for a bit of rowing and some weights, I’ll probably suffer for that tomorrow but kept it fairly light. Quite a decent drop in strength especially upper body. Hardly a surprise my Zwift sprints are so weak as I was about 35KG down on the leg press, although I could have done a bit more if I’d wanted to risk DOMS.

Then hopped on the wattbike for a quick Zwift race.

Your asthma still bad GB?

Anyone use GCN training videos? I’ve been using them for over a year and they’re pretty good tbf. Some good banter between the presenters too. I know there’s lots of other stuff out there but with the GCN crew it sort of feels personal

Cold morning today -5.5C, but it’s actually lovely - sun shining, clear blue sky and everything is covered in frost :snowflake: :snowflake: :snowflake: 9.6km run. Climbing gym this evening.

You know what, today is the first day i’ve noticed a step change improvement, thanks for asking.

I’m not going to do anything silly, will just try to tick over for the next few days. There’s a reasonable chance my trip to Wales between Xmas and NY will now be cancelled, so i may have an unexpected couple of days to utilise. Might be able to sneak out for a long morning ride on one of the days.

Glad you’re feeling an improvement today. Enjoy being able to breath properly or better. Had asthma since childhood, so I understand the struggles and frustration when it influences sport.

Errr, yeah. So. About that.

A 40 minute race because I couldn’t be bothered to just pootle around solo on zwift is taking it easy right?

What was that comment about learning for the future :joy:

Did you get any points? Can’t have you sneaking up on me as well :grimacing:

I very much doubt it. I was like 60/96.

Stuck with the main group all the way to the last 1km, which was my aim (well original aim was to stick for 1st lap).

Don’t think my ipad/Internet was rendering properly though as I think a group went off the front, but I never saw them on screen or on the map. Just noticed when I surged to the front of the pack instead of being in position 1-3 I’d be 20 odd. Weird.

Ha! In my comment before I also wanted to write enjoy the extra energy that comes with being able to breath properly, but thought better of it. It seems you did that anyway

Realised I needed to get back to lifting weights yesterday.

Didn’t go mental.
Just 2 sets on the legs - curls and leg press - not too much weight.

Tried to run this morning….

Inside of my thighs are a bit sore from yesterday, and the shoulder area.
