Don’t ride centuries in the winter, folks. ![]()

Still feeling a bit off (negative PCR and 3 x negative LFT tests, mind). Tried a tempo 22 minute treadmill and felt okay.
Great effort mate. I pottered about in the garage with a tape measure, decided it was too cold and went in.
Finally got my arse in gear and on Zwift for a while this afternoon, 50k split over a bit of bot B and C following
Another session in the gym, again not really heavy weights.
Then a 3K/2K/1K session on the dreadmill at ~5K+, turns out it’s a bit harder after leg presses
No training today.
Some twat sent an invite to an 8am meeting at 6pm last night which I “luckily” saw as I made coffee this morning, hours of stressful meetings and straight into a job interview that was full bore, then into a bunch of client politics I should have nothing to do with, calling into question my role and actions because no one else is doing their fucking jobs, club run is going ahead but everyone is covid nervous so bailed on that and hit the beer.
Maybe rant thread next time.
I thought you were sorted with a job mate?
Short term contract - I’m freelance. Maybe take a perm role in March.
My record for losing my patience with a new client is on the first day, these guys have made it to day…15, so they’re MOP for assholes. Good, really.
Mrs FP drove the 2.5km to the far shop to pick up turkey crown and jam. LO and I walked there.
We are having drinks in the cafe, undecided if we’re walking back, effin freezing🤣
cold here too today -7C, but like yesterday the sun is shining and the sky is blue - loving this weather. 12km trail run
Edit: managed to get out for another run (5km) this afternoon. Only one run behind on the 100/100 now. Feeling quite pleased with myself!!
Few ‘fun’ activities planned for the Christmas break, as club should have gone training camp to Melbourne next week if wasn’t for covid.
Started with 100x100 long course this morning, think 7 did it all with rest of club doing it as a relay.
Me and a friend were holding around 1:22s throughout, swapping the lead a couple of times, although he’s definitely a better swimmer than me. Thought I must be doing comparatively well, then he finished on a 1:06 making me realise how easy he’d had it for the last 2 hours
220km supported ride tomorrow round a TDU stage, half glad to now be on nights and missing that.
Lots of dual sports lined up for next week, open water swim runs etc. Was talk of an Everest attempt but not heard any more of that…
2000mtrs Concept 2 RowErg
Finally achieved a long term training target by getting a sub 7minute 2000mtr row. It was rough at times especially through 1250 - 750mtr.
71km on Zwift mainly made up of 10 laps of railways and rooftops KAB group ride
nicely done
Ranked #5 in Ireland and #133 in World for 2022
Did a ‘fun’ session at the track last night; 6 repeats of 800m followed by a 1 minute rest and then 200 hard, with 3 minutes between the repeats.
Pretty much all reps resulted in an improvement, 800m went from 2:55 (which looking back was rather slow) to 2:37 and 200m from 37s to 34s. I actually thought I was a pushing a bit quick to start with, especially on the 200s so surprised I could keep it up.
I think the weather was just about perfect for me, just a few degrees and dry. One corner of the track was a little slippery. Might be time to invest in some spikes (especially given as stenard pointed out elsewhere, my Vaporflys aren’t track legal).
7k jog, wanted to see how the achilles would react to having been stretched out a bit on the bike - most comfortable run for a while, now I just need to find a sport which combines a bike ride followed by a run…
Nice. This was one of the most painful things I’d done when I tried it!
5.5k row, followed by 4 rounds of 5 weighted bridges, 4 squats and 3 bicep curls.
Had a bit of an “off” on gravel bike today. Bruised hip and rear mech a bit unwell. Still, soon be Christmas
