Training - What Training?!

Great finish to the year & well done on firmly putting the upstart back in his place.

I suspect it will be the last time that happens

Easy run to the shops, bought brown bread and fruit and fibre.

After a few days of illness, had a 30 minute gentle spin class. Oddly, my swear absolutely stunk afterwards, and didn’t manage to foul myself….

…. So will count that as a win.

Easy bike actually outside today! It actually felt mild and no wind, but still grey and misty near the hills.

Quite enjoyed it as well.

Then a few weights in the gym to burn off some of the cake I’d eaten.

Managed an easy 30 minute jog on the mod common at the in-laws

Just so bloody wet. Feels like it’s been raining since Christmas Eve

5km trail run, 1.5 hrs climbing gym (had to leave early as dh hurt his hand :pensive:) and 7x10 push-ups yesterday. 12km trail run this morning, hoping to do some weights later.
I keep reading that older women benefit from weight training. As I fall into this category, I’m planning on doing weights at least twice per week now. let’s see if I can manage this!?!

Edit: 40 mins weights: upper body strength routine + 5x3 pull-ups

I think the general consensus is that everyone will benefit from some weight training these days, particularly as we age and a lot of us don’t have jobs or lifestyles that would have had that effect in the past.

Not talking about heavy weights or anything.

Upping the effort now.

Long club run, very muddy trails, ass over tit early doors but all good.

Yep that’s my understanding. The benefits are plenty, and if you’re sensible the risk of injury is low.

Can anyone beat my 790 steps yesterday?
It’s got to be a normal day, not laid up in bed ill or injured, just pure idolness.

Good effort.

Not sure how I managed to amass so many to be honest. I did take the dog to the park for a ball throw so that probably added a few hundred.

Close but no cigar

I would guess I have a low chance of beating anyone on TT in triathlon so imagine my excitement when I think, now here’s one I can compete for.

Garmin: You take more steps than 99% of other users. Monday 27th. 19,985.

Ffs.

Fairly normal still for me:

45 minutes in the gym.

5k on the rowing machine, followed by donkey kicks and clams, weighted bridges, goblet squats and calf raises.

Now, back to the chocolate.

Got to the pool for an hour. Wee warm up, 750m full out and then a few hundred metres of pads and kicks. Broke the 16min mark for my 750m to take 16 seconds off my PB, chuffed with that and a nice way to finish the year. Plenty still to go but nice to look back over the past 8 months and see how much I’ve improved.

Earned a full box of Guylian.
