They are nice for the first few but get a little sickly after that.
I finally carved out a couple of hours to actually do some exercise. And I went outside as well!
Really close to just doing an hour on zwift as I HAD to be back by 4 and the weather wasn’t particularly enticing. Luckily I kicked my own ass and just shoved my kit on and headed off.
So glad I did. Couple of hours of filthy, flooded Devon back lanes. Wind was horrible, drizzle on and off but not cold. Nearly crashed into 2 tractors, forgot my clear sunglasses so struggled to see whenever I was on the drops (only have a half guard on the front).
But it was fun. And that’s what it’s about!
Kids tmw, so no exercise again. Then 3 days visiting family in Wales. So that’ll be too much time in the car or sat in the houses eating crap food. Never mind. Focussed on dialling up in Jan again as I feel awful at the moment. But that’s the point of December right? Someone agree with me!

Muddiest of muddy trail runs with the club. A few stops for the support car to bring the prosecco to us for the pit stops.
Easy spin in erg mode for a couple of hours; route badge Big Loop while watching 14 Peaks on Netflix… the endurance and toughness on display was insane.
Stopping gym membership in a month so will be using the turbo from now on.
Do any of you use a cadence sensor when training?
I’ve kind of got used to seeing cadence displayed on the Wattbike.
I don’t have a power meter, so any training will be heart rate based.
I’ve got a cadence sensor (one of the combined speed & cadence Garmin ones). I don’t particularly look at cadence but do vary it on some intervals for a bit of variety, and look at it afterwards.
If you’ve got a dumb trainer, speed is decent substitute for power, especially if you can find the curve for your trainer, but even if not it’s a fixed value that doesn’t change as you tire or take time to build up like HR does.
I did my own little test on my turbo as (although it’s dumb) it does transmit a power figure and compared it to the P2M on my bike. If you could borrow a PM you could do the same if there isn’t a published curve.
Thanks for the response, interesting ideas to ponder
20 Km run with son - pushed me hard towards the end
Longest run since the end of August I think
Might feel that tomorrow
Hours ride on the bullet hills fairly chilled. 13 degrees - it’s tropical

30 minute spin class, still recovering.
Mrs Scrub subscribes to Les Mills Online, their RPM classes are included. I scoffed until I did one. Jeez, they’re pretty tough to be fair
Exactly the same!
I thought I’ll do a couple to demonstrate their ineffectiveness. Very, very wrong.
I use an ancient Startrac spin bike, so as analogue as you can get really. I’ve paired a Wahoo cadence meter with the Wahoo app and Sufferfest also reads it.
I’ve considered the Zwift/Kickr/powermeter scenario but, quite frankly, I CBA with it
I should know better really, Ive taught Spin for almost 25 years

This thread got big.
Surprising really, given all the eating, drinking, ranting and watching TV that we’re all busy doing.
