Just had a flick through. Shambolic.
Some / most of those people should be ashamed.

1 x swim
1 x 7.5k outdoor run
3 x treadmills runs (ranging from 5-7.5k)
3 x indoor rowing and weights
Ultimately it was counter productive, as anyone who is a weak swimmer, and thinking about entering an IM, will read through the thread and feel totally empowered to enter

Leave the club, obviously.
To be fair, you have 2h20m to complete the swim, and usually 17h for the whole thing. So people are quite entitled be âslowâ and still be an Ironman.
I think the issue with a lot of people, is that they hype everything up and lack modesty or a sense or realism; along with being overly âpreciousâ about themselves. But that is not confined to endurance sports. There are hundreds of people quietly and studiously training their way to a 15h+ finish, but we donât hear about them, because they are self-effacing.
My full matching Castelli kit for that bike is spring/summer/autumn
Managed to bag 2 CTLs at lunchtime
Picking things back up from my easy last week.
New PB on Alpe De Zwift, and managed an average of 306w, 10w up on my last big effort in April. Its always nice to get confirmation of improvement
Probably need to increase my FTP to 310 (as per ramp test last week). Currently working off 300⌠wonât get as many CTLs when I do this though
Probably do an easy ride to office tomorrow, the intervals in the evening
Which is why ctl is not the be all. You can keep your ctl static and yet if you keep improving ftp youâre massively making gains
Assume Matts comment was tongue in cheek.
But yes as for CTL not directly representing fitness, Mines 64, peaked at 104 this summer before IMUK. But currently higher FTP, better ability to hold high Z2 watts for 2-3hrs (not tried longer) and better swimming.
Indeed, if the goal is a big CTL, just set FTP and threshold low.
I didnât adjust my FTP during the season as I wanted to keep my IF consistent. But itâs pretty conclusive that my FTP has increased, so needs to be adjusted
I donât get this. It doesnât make sense? If youâre getting stronger, then a session at 290w is very different from a session at 310w depending on where your fitness is at? Keeping your ftp at 310 just to get more ctl points is a falasy?
Its Zwift season. My best ever 60 minute efforts have all been in the past 6 weeks. 280w from yesterday includes warmup
I donât test my FTP during the season, and in the past, my FTP has actually fallen a bit over the summer, however, this year, I did suspect that my FTP may have increased, so it wasnât a big surprise that it was 10w higher.
You missed a trick thereâŚ

(Actually spelling is fallacy)
Like Matt, Zwifting has seen a good boost in my FTP. After todayâs race, I have an all-time best FTP since switching from my (flattering!) Ergomo in 2014. 271w bitchez. Followed by a 5k Brick run. If you saw my legs, youâd realise how respectable that FTP is.
All important CTL is 99

All about W/Kg init
Short treadmill with 5k of reps at what was hmp only 9 weeks ago, thought I was going to black out
Well, and aero too; and the % of your FTP you can maintain for a set period.
and whether youâre telling the truth or not
If I was lying it would be over 300w!
