Are you not physically and mentally tired with that CTL?
Or have the years of consistent (there’s that word again!) made it okay?
Seen @Matthew_Spooner hill rep session and thinking to myself - isn’t he knackered after his season? How you feeling Matt?
I’m finding it hard to get out on the bike, presently.
It’s either frosty all day (I don’t want to fall off and injure myself!), chucking it down (sick to death of cleaning my bike and kit) or I’m simply bored of my own company and nobody wants to ride (I understand that people generally work in the day!)
Swimming isn’t so much of a chore - easy 30-40 minutes two/three times per week is relaxing and complements the running as active recovery.
Running. Love it. Can go out whatever the weather and explore. Not done any speed work for months now, but aren’t worried about it - just spending three weeks building a “buttery biscuit” base to start adding some marathon stuff to.
i’m getting frustrated again as i can’t run. Ths is proving to be a really crap winter! Pain on the top of my right foot. Actually had this as a result of October’s race, but as it was ‘less bad’ than the shin/ankle injury on the other side, i ignored it. Now it is worse. Can’t decide what is causing it though. Guess it could be bone, tendon or muscle?! Grrrr
Calves probably are to be honest … hadn’t thought about that .Maybe i’ll try loosening them off, see what happens.
@Jorgan to be competely honest i just can’t fit it in right now. Swimming is nigh on impossible. Our local one has crap timings that just don’t work around family etc. The weather here is absolutely minging, so riding is off and i don’t even have anywhere to turbo (shed is now jam packed) and my bike is ‘Fatty’s Leg’. Excuses really i guess!!
I’m actally thinking about just cracking on regardless. Bit of ibu and see what happens.
Replying to you and Chris. That’s just where it lands. You can have 4.01 or 3.59 but not 4.00.
However, I’ve noticed that when you run with different average percentages in elevation, it stops at different paces to when it’s flat (today was flat, 'cos I’m knackered).
Well, as with anything, it’s just a mindset thing. I’m a stubborn OCD git, so if I drive to work it feels like a ‘failure’. I did do it when it snowed back in February one day; too treacherous for road riding.
Admittedly, this weather doesn’t help, and the lack of daylight.
I drove to work today when should have been on bike.
I always use the van on Wednesday as go to a different office so have to swap cars over when I get home from swimming.
It lashed it down all afternoon so there was standing water everywhere and when I phoned Mrs J to ask her to move her car she didn’t even say hello she just answered the phone and said “I don’t feel very well so there’s no way I’m coming out to move the car in this” in a tone that left no room for discussion.
With the awful forecast this afternoon again I couldn’t be arsed so left the van at the back and used it again today.
I’ll try again tonight
Overall I am feeling good… but I am a little bit scared of backing off as I am not sure how I would feel, or how I would get going again.
Last year I did very little in December, and then put in a massive effort in Jan and Feb. This year, I will keep things on a much more even keel
I had a slightly quiet month in November, so managed to recover. Picked up a bit in December, I suspect Christmas period will be difficult to train much. Also put on a load of weight, as I am not watching diet at all, and drinking more than I would during the season.
weather has been great here, warmer than usual, and not much wind or rain which is great for keeping training going
Struggling to get the miles in running at the moment (lack of motivation), managing one long slow run per week, and one interval or hill reps. Its taking me ages to warm up, for the first 3km or slow, my legs are stiff and painful, fine when warmed up, and no pain after, so no injury, just tiredness
