Fair play. Grim out there atm

It was ā€˜less than pleasant’ !

Local 17k trail loop with the running club, boggy in places though.

Man, it is torrid out there today. I managed to leave work early on Christmas Eve and squeeze in an hours hard gravel riding. Christmas Day was an hour of sunny road riding. Today I was on for hill repeats, but had to bail less than half way through as the rain had soaked me through and I couldn’t feel my hands anymore. Just slowly coming back to life now after some food and tea.

Same. Parkrun with little one, Arrow Valley, 33.3x, it was bright but chilly, boy would have been less cold had he run at least some of it rather than sit in the buggy like little lord foltoroy (sp?)

Been fairly consistent since Saturday.

2 run
2 Wattbike
2 strength and core

Can’t bring myself to go out for a ride, getting soft in my old age!

Can anyone recommend a warmish cycling jacket? Below £100?

23km road run. 2:16:06 Brings me to 80km since Sunday. No bike.

You are smashing it for this time of year :+1:

Cheers mate. Not sure if I’m doing things right. My basic plan is 4 wks block of: High/Med/High/low repeat.

High - 85-90km
Med - 60-65km
Low - 40-45km

Only worry about getting some riding in on Low and Med weeks.

First big test of the year will be Bramley 20miler in Feb where I’m hoping to hold 5.20/Kms.

Next up is Newport marathon April 19th. Rest of the year very much depends on if I get into CCC or not.

After seeing about 2 drops of rain I wimped the bike ride again, but I did get on the wattbike instead.

2*20 with first 30 minutes @265W and last 10 @297W

First 30 was tempo’ish, last 10 was getting a bit tough but not bad considering a lack of bike training for months.

Looks like a decent plan and the proof will be when you get to your races.
Don’t think I could manage those high weeks but might have to build up to something similar if I do an ultra this year.

It will be tough for sure. Although I’ve found it easier to build this winter on top of the ultra year I had last year and that year was on the back of two IM years.
So I guess it’s a case of volume by accumulation of other stuff.

That’s hard core.

Well done!!

3 x outdoor runs: 2 x 5k & 1 x 10k (bonus points as that was on Christmas morning)
1 x treadmill run: 5.5k uphill
4 x indoor rowing & conditioning

Burnham on sea Parkrun with Little One. She pb’d by over a minute with a 32.01 and came 1st in her Ag of JW10.

That brings me to 86km for the week, probably should have run another 4 to bring it to 90 but CBA.
