Training - What Training?!

2 hours on the TT in the afternoon/evening is a wonderful thing.
Even better if you can do it at actual race time on a morning (say 0630-0640) gets you used to putting out power early doors

I can’t do that on race day… let alone a training morning

Just seen your ride - did you get lucky with no traffic and at the lights or what?!?

That’s a mental route
And where (Draycott One Stop) some dude who was about the same size as The Rock pinned me and my bike against the kerb with his car and got out to tell me how to ride on double yellow lines :poop:

Also - full aero kit, too?

No I had some lights, learner drivers and such. Garmin on autopause when below walking pace (mainly so I don’t take stupid risks and or jump lights).
I seem to find loops much more mentally doable. Time flew by. Also looped past home after 50km, decided I’d grab another bottle just incase. Ended up finishing it in the next 45 mins of riding. Was warm but not unbearable. Happy with it all once the hip settled down.

Nah. TT bike. Disc. Standard bibs and Jersey. Even took off the aero bottle for a standard one (cause I wanted bigger and insulated - and I dropped the aero one on the 25 last week. Think I’ll leave it like that for race - much less faff, can drink more, easier to replace bottle. Not sure I’ve got much more power, may get a bit more speed from better course and aero lid but nothing major.

It also wasn’t that lucky…I mean not even a KM in and first ped lights are red.

There’s not actually that many lights on that route - the bridge at elvaston can be a pain. I also deviated the loops depending on traffic at junctions. So avoided a few queues to keep moving.

THIS :joy::person_facepalming:t4:
I have mine on like this, too.
Although turned it off in Mallorca as it kept auto pausing on some climbs - THE CHEEK OF IT :see_no_evil:

LOL to the Dorset Echo and the sweepstake :joy::joy::joy:

Promise you no sandbagging or mind games intended , I have just had a solid 8 week training block which seems to be working out ok & this morning felt really good. Love training in the heat too . Just hope it lasts another 2 weeks

If any interest, on the bike this morning took 2l of water, 1.5l of high5, 2 bananas and half a Jamaica ginger cake. Haven’t worked out the carb there yet but probably 150gish. Then a wee in transition as suggested by @Doonhamer . Nothing in or out on the run.

Went more by feel on the bike in the end, rpe around 7 . Bizarrely Garmin pedals almost agreed with the Saris today. Pedals said 247 and Saris said 245. No idea why they didn’t last time

Then on the run just at a pace that felt hard but sustainable, rpe 7 rising to 8 in the last 2 km. That’s 3 hard sessions in the last 5 days though, so I’m going to back off a bit now.

Hope everyone else doing Cots is looking forward to it as much, good luck with last 2 weeks of prep and no mishaps between now and then :crossed_fingers:

PS alcohol seems to make a huge difference here -
in a bad way- something I have only just learned after walking this earth for the best part of 49 years
