Virtual Zwift Rides

This is why I prefer having a LAN connection in the garage!

It was the connection for trainer->Laptop tho (so bluetooth or Ant)… not wifi related (least I assumed that was my problem)!
Pulling the Ant+ dongle certainly fired it back into life

Do I need to RTFM here, how do you do things like go into tuck, I thought it was automatic? and is there a way to get rid of the parachute that is following me?

I have no idea how you change anything, would that help me? As far as I know I’m on whatever the defaults are, can you obtain upgrades like skinsuits, faster bikes etc?

You need to go to the ingame menu jeff.
It SHOULD be all in the app. I have to click on the game when your riding and you get a pop up menu button
That takes you to settings, garage, achievements etc.
Before u buy owt, go on zwift insider. Tells you what stuff is best to buy at each level

Ta, I’ll have a look, I did wonder about that, just seems a bit weird you need to do it while you are playing.

Its driving me insane. Everything in that menu should be on the companion app.
Want to see what routes you haven’t done? Start the game, go to menu, quit ride. Restart then pick route.
Want to pair a device to your companion app, start game, go to menu etc etc
I hate it.

I dropped out of the 5pm after 5mins. It was s waste of time, hence I wont be doing any of the other HR events. They should at least have them every hour. It’s not like they have Marshall issues.

Why did you drop out?

I came across Zwifthub.com yesterday which seeks a solution for this. It’s not ideal - they dont have an actual API so unfortunately you need to tell them which ones you have done, but at least that’s a one-time thing and then you have a list online you can use

(Or could just create a spreadsheet and tick them off)

It was just a blob on the screen, I couldnt see myself and there were so many overlays it was just a mass of colour. I just thought it was stupid and felt like it was going to grind to a halt any minute. I quit out and did my own ride instead.

Joined tritalk. Planning to do Haute tomorrow morning. Legs are toasted after an 8 lap crit today, but hey ho, here we go!

Not sure why i thought there were no US times suitable for riding today’s stage

Anyway, also did stage 1 today, and like you felt equally friend. Took about the same time as you, with a lot of freewheeling because my legs were trashed. 4 races and 1 group ride over the past 7 days, including going up the Alpe just two days ago (and managing 270 watts for pretty much an hour which is a v. tough effort for me)

Tomorrow will be fun up the Alpe again. Probably will do the 5pm GMT ride if anybody else is doing that? Not sure I will be able to make it to

Also joined the tritalk team (or group?) on zwiftpower

I’ve got my WiFi extenders arriving today. Do I need an ant+ stick, or will normal Bluetooth work? It’s a bit unclear on the website, but would I have normal zwift open on the laptop or ipad, and then the companion app open on my phone (or ipad) that is then hooked up to my Bluetooth hrm and speed/cadence sensor (as I’ll be on a dumb trainer).

If I can get it to work, I’ll be pathetic, as I’ve not managed to fix the bike. I can’t get it to shift up the gears past about half way. I’ve tried to put more tension in the cable (shredded my knuckles in the process) and that have me an extra hear or so. But I can’t get any higher. I’ve got a triple on the front as well, and that’s not much better. I could get between small to medium, but not big. So I’ll have to just pick like 4 gears and try to do it just by using cadence.

What’s the difference between the D and E rides on these Haute Route races?

Yes, I think that would work. I’ve got an iPad with Zwift on it and then have the companion app open on my phone, so I can easily chat to friends in a meet-up. I don’t use a HRM but I think I’d just use a dongle on the phone to record HR, if I wanted to. I find that my iPad needs to have the charger attached as it drains the internal battery quite quickly. This means I wouldn’t be able to record HR via the iPad

I don’t think any.
It was just E, but with 6000+ riding prople were having issues and crashed out the session.
I’ve just moved from E to D as 90% less people in it

I’m in tempus figut doing IMVR1 if anyone is about, I’m joe x

Just finished stage 2. Didn’t feel 100% but better than yesterday. Did 64mins for my first time up the Alpe. Held 215-220w pretty much the whole way up. Entered the climb in something like position 2100, and finished in 1700th or so. Felt like I paced it alright.

EDIT - certainly can’t complain given some all time near bests…

After passing the final hairpin I saw @Matthew_Spooner on the overall KOM leaderboard in 10th place with 42mins :exploding_head:

Rode a steady level 2 effort from start to finish - was something like 2800th at bottom of climb and steadily made up places to 2462th by the top.

Looking at the splits I was pretty consistent and should get a tick :white_check_mark: when I submit my homework. Nice to get today’s put the way by 10am.
