I missed stage 1 yesterday (did a crit race instead), but enjoyed stage 2 today. I held AP 203w and NP 206w, for 69kg so almost 3 wkg for 1h35m (Zwift says 1h39). When I say I enjoyed it, let’s be honest: it was horrific and brutal and my butt cheeks hurt. I was not sure where I finished (As in I stumbled off the trainer into a pool of sweat and couldn’t move for a little while), but the companion app says 1697
.
Nice.
Yeah, that’s pretty much what mine looked like between 215-220. It was quite a good motivator actually. I was ready to back off at half way, but didn’t want the average per sector to show a drop off and that kept me going
Well that was fun. Stage 3 Haute Route. Went off at around 350w and settled into a group around 100-120 place. Got to Alpe, and steadily passed people, held around 320w new PR up the Alpe in 42:07, Finished Stage in 49th place in 1h4m
I looked at Zwiftpower and the top 10 has 2 Pros
One is Freddy ovett; son of runner
Apparently he is unbelievably gifted (surprise surprise) but never really translated to real world
You could see why certain people love e-sports !
I’m only messing. But I’m just stating what was on the screen once I passed the final hairpin. You were in tenth place with 42:10. Guess that means the zwift insider segments are not 100% accurate.
The more I use zwift, the more I think the game itself is great. But the UI is awful. It astounds me how they are effectively relying on third party sites to collate all this data and make it readily available outside the game.
The whole thing about ending a ride entirely closing the game seems to have been complained about since 2015 and they’ve still not done anything about it!
I wonder if this pandemic is a double edged sword for them
Obviously huge traffic boost, and makes their valuation rise
But bigger picture I wonder if a lot of people say indoor training is absolutely here to stay and we are going to invest a fortune if needed to replace Zwift
Are Zwift myspace or Facebook ? We will know in 2 yrs
I can see that being the thought process of Rouvy. Zwift are certainly a large early leader, but I can certainly see a lot of IM loyal people signing up for Rouvy now to do the race routes.
Ive never really understood wanting to ride the route virtually in all honesty. But a lot of people do it, even by uploading the gpx file to their bike comouter/smart trainer, so that is a step change in subscriber numbers I’m guessing Rouvy are banking on. I imagine they are paying to be the official IMVR partner so it’ll either pay off, or bite them
55 mins up the alp for me.
After realising I had no resistance at the first little climb a reboot cost me 500 places, halfway up the alp my connection dropped again losing few hundred more. Highly frustrating.
Managed to keep fairly consistent splits and similar power to stage 1.
