I’ve just got over a cool million. Going to get the s5 once I’m level 25 - I’m around a third of the way through 24
I’m level 25 and already ride a TT bike with 808s, I thinkI have approx 2.7m points, I’ve never been to the ‘shop’. Might have a look.
Shiv disk is 3rd fastest TT bike anyway so grab it. It’s what I’m riding with 808/super 9
Just because I need to get out the house for some peace and quiet
(set up in garage) think I’m on day 28 of the streak. 900km in April so far. I’m doing group meet up with club and my son twice a week also and much of it is easy. The odd hard effort, TT today for instance.
Yeah, I’m high enough a level to get one of those, but just nowhere near enough drops. I don’t understand how people accrue so many! I’ve bought two cheap sets of wheels (inc the 808s which are the early must buy) and the zwift aero frame (which is apparently pretty much the fastest flat bike at low levels) and that’s it. I just knocked off the parlee challenge this evening (having only signed up on Saturday) and that extra 100k took me up to about 450k. You need nearly 800k for any of the TT frames
Most people with decent equipment got it as level upgrades pre drop shop. I got all the zipp wheels, dogma 65.1, all the Zwift bikes, S5. Also when drops were introduced I got given well over a million which I bought the shiv disk with. The drops go up about 15-20k per hour but climb for more as the descent adds them fast also.
Yeah I’ve never spent any drops and got everything by levelling up. Didn’t realise you couldn’t do that now?
I’ve hardly spent any drops yet, as like Hammerer said, I got a decent amount of kit pre drop shop, which is nice… I did buy the P5 when the drop shop first opened (spending most of the points i’d accrued from the start and was thus gifted), but since then, just collected, so I think, without checking, that i’m sitting on 4.5M drops and at level 33 at the moment… just waiting to reach the level where I can buy a nice rear disc wheel for the P5 (level 35 if they have disc wheels at that point), or failing that, a funky new TT bike.
Think that Dogma was for beta
That was the fastest road bike I had until I bought the Madone
I’ve got the disk, but want the 858/disk combo now but nowhere near that level yet.
I only use the TT bike I have for everything in Zwift. How do the drops work, for example, if I used them to buy a road bike, can I still revert back to TT bike. (does it mean I have two bikes available)?
Just done a race and there was no info, no time gaps, or positions on the road. First time I’ve seen that. Is that a glitch? Another guy said likewise.
Same for me. Pretty boring race, 3 of us at the front, and didn’t see anyone else. We finished 18s ahead of the next group. I was pretty sure that a bigger group would catch us as it is normally pretty tough for 3 people to hang onto a lead. Wasn’t particuarly fast, my AP was 295w
As usual I lost out on the sprint, was given 3rd place, with extactly same time as second
Yes. You buy stuff, and it’s then effectively in your workshop (or garage) that you can pick and choose from at any point
Thanks. I’ll have a nose around on the weekend.
Surprised they haven’t monetised drops, I’m sure some people might pay to get the good bikes & wheels quicker.
I’m sure they will eventually. If I was them, i’d monetise it through external partners too… get drops by shopping at Wiggle, kind of like a loyalty programme.
Yes it was the crappest race I’ve done. Small field, no info. It just happened to be at a good time for me! I got dropped on the last time up Whitehall (again) but couldn’t make it back to the group on the last lap. My short duration power is pants. Yet on lap 3 I was touching 5w/kg for a minute or so to get back in touch!
Shouldn’t be disappointed with a 3rd place, but frustrated that I did most of the work. The other 2 were putting in such low power on the front that we would have been caught by chase pack (with no on screen info, I had no idea how far behind they were). My w/kg much higher than position 1 and 2
I think in some regards they are missing massive revenue opportunity by not doing that. Look at Fortnite, its a free game but it makes $1.8bn a year in micro-transactions which give the user nothing but cosmetic changes. On the other hand though the drops in Zwift are rewarded for mileage and encouraging people to use it more, so possibly from a moral stand point they dont want people to be able to buy their way forward. I suspect the vast majority of users dont need encouraging to use it
