Virtual Zwift Rides

So they raced smart then!
As the pros always say, winning a bike race is not about who’s the strongest

Missed this post! I did the Jungle circuit race instead at a similar time.

Or maybe I’m ducking you now you know who I am

But you pay to use the platform in the first place

I’m fairly sure when they updated to include drops, the shop etc Zwift said there would be no further charges

I agree with that Adam but was being slightly cynical that they could make more money by allowing people to pay and jump the queue.

Maybe they could use any ££ they get to employ some UI specialists

Haha - i think that people do forget that they pay for it though

But yeah I do agree - the possibilities are endless for wheels, frames, kit etc a bit like gran turismo back in the day :joy:

I know you are right, and I knew what they were doing, I thought that I was strong enough to take them on the Sprint, unfortunately I wasn’t.

I was surprised that none of the Cat B’s came with us at the start though.

It was a pants race, so you didn’t miss anything. I usually try to find something around 07.30, that’s around 30km or less.

I think Eric Minn stated on record that it would be meritocratic; you got the kit you earned.
But if e-sports does not pan out and they need a plan B i am sure they will rapidly change mind

But the Fortnite analogy is not totally fair as its one of the few levers you can pull - so people will

On Zwift you can simply change weight or use dodgy power meter
Its like EPO vs a good vitamin program
Free EPO or pay for vitamins; not even close

Did it arrive??

You’ll have to excuse the broken mud guard. Couldn’t be arsed to remove it.

Ace. Be interested how you find it… and whether I regret going for cheaper Suito (tho Wiggle aint on the ball like Sigma clearly!!!)

Suito and Direto reviews most welcome please, keep flitting between lots of options at the moment, decision making slightly complicated as Mrs. Iower doesn’t have a power meter so getting a smart turbo would kill two birds with one stone, but then I’d never get to use it as her bike would probably just live on it

I will let you know how I get one withe Direto. Comparing the two the Direto does 18% grades to the Suito 15% and the PM accuracy is 1% better. But its £100 more and it doesn’t come with a cassette adding another 30 odd quid (plus the tools if you dont have them)

Yeah I’ve got a mark 1 flux I’ll be comparing against - that only has 10% incline. So anything over that is a bonus.
Flux is generally pretty good, but the odd disconnect, random slippage (fixed by recalibration) and the odd lag on rolling terrain all bug me a bit. Will see if this is any more stable.
Not expecting mine till early May tho :frowning:

I’ve had my Direto for 2.5 yrs now, it’s been rock solid. It’s the 1st Gen but late as it only has the semi humming motor  (you don’t notice it after a few rides). I believe they are completely silent now.

I calibrate when I move it or about every 3-4 wks, takes one minute with the Elite app. (which is crap). Bought mine for £750 from Sigma and it’s been really worthwhile with Little One, work/weather/winter.

Can’t speak for EliteSupport as I’ve never needed it. I’ve also never serviced it, which is probably something I should do!

First TT for me tonight. I haven’t done a proper hard, steady state effort like that in about 2 years. I think my last 10mile TT outdoors was in 2017!

Choosing to pace it like a 20min test was all well and good, until it took me 23.5mins! That final stretch to the line felt like an eternity

Still, I can’t really complain too much with a drop off of 3w from 10min power to 20min power. I did drop another 2w in the overall average in that final three and a half minutes though, so a fairly big explosion!

Still, another pretty big 20min best. That’s three in three straight weeks now! A month ago I’d only ever done above 260w once, and that was at the start of 2018

4 NY routes ticked off today. Couple of small uns this morning and 2 bigger after work

75% looks good till you see its barely 50% of the mileage. Should finish NY next week and hopefully a longer one this weekend!

I ticked off my remaining Richmond route and did the volcano circuit, tomorrow should be halfway to the unemployed badge

I did the same and basically use the Shiv Disc for every thing in Zwift.

You’re really flying.

I just finished a Tempus Fugit TT race - Hudik Triathlon Time Trial - came in 4th (much smaller field), 25:38, 285W, 3.7 W/kg. Pretty pleased with that, started a bit strong at just over 300W and then settled into a 280W - 290W effort.
