Virtual Zwift Rides

For me Zwift has completely changed the bordem side of it. Possibly I will get bored eventually but chasing the drops and achievements keeps me going a bit more and its something to look at.

On top of that I’ve always found music helps to fight the bordem

Problem I have is my arse still isnt up to long time in the saddle, especially when its sweaty. Think I needs some better shorts with a thicker pad.

If you aren’t racing, change mid ride.

Use a thin layer of sudocrem, or expensive antibacterial chamois cream

If things are bad, go to bed at night with a thin layer of sudocrem

Get better air ventilation

Remove wet pad as quickly as possible after you finish and get into a shower and clean properly to avoid saddle sores

Time will toughen it up

Thanks. Just ordered some new bibs and chamois cream. Got idea about changing mid ride. Even with a massive fan on full tilt I’m sweating like a yak.

Ticked off another 2 route badges today, I quote like the gamification. However, I’m going through the short routes first and it will get harder as the remaining ones get longer.

Smashed my way up NY KOM reverse for 11th on leaderboard. Quite fun doing 3 min all out effort

Where are all these route badges? I’ve never heard of them, are they new?

They are achievements rather than badges. If you go the badges screen and scroll down they are there.

Do you need 4 in a group to get the draft effect, or did I imagine that?

I just couldn’t face that, my usual is around 40-50 minutes. When I went up the Alpe last week I think it ended up being about 1:25 as I coasted back down to get the extra XP. Unfortunately I don’t have an ERG mode when it would keep the wheel spinning

Cheers, just had a look. They must be fairly new as I’ve done a few of those routes before but don’t have the badge. Gives me something to aim for now anyway.

They are good for levelling up as well as you get XP, and some courses it’s a few hundred.

I’ve done exactly the same - only got a couple of mountainous short Watopia routes left - all the hard hitters left for me now

I know it’s not “real” but remembered why I’m not a bike racer yesterday.

Well, what should have been my volcano 25 lap badge was a 10 lap badge and a 15 lap no badge :pensive:

Still 107km virtual kms and 3 hrs 10 in the saddle before 9am can’t be a bad thing. Didn’t actually find it too bad. First hour on the phone to a mate doing the same. Then some Mandalorian and then some podcast. Arse was getting rather fed up though.

Did the Big Hilly Loop, this morning to tick it off and found myself riding with Ritchie Porte, Cam Wurf and Wout Poels. Quite cool, in a completely avatar, not real kind of way.

Any idea why you didn’t get the badge?
Obviously had you on the route.
Far too many of these being reported!

@mw22 see the rant thread!

Accidentally knocked my BT off when switching the laptop to watch some stuff. So the speed sensor dropped off and then wouldn’t reconnect. The hrm connected up again, but the sensor wasn’t having any of it. It said connected, but was just stuck at zero. After nearly 10 mins of messing about with it I sucked it up, saved the ride and started again. Frustrating!

Started again. Fair play. Idve got off in a right huff.
Massive respect :+1:

I saw you were riding when I started, Zwift asked if I wanted to join you but I figured you’d be pedalling angry and I wouldn’t keep up.

Can’t you get on the phone to them and ask to join the rides so you get the badge

This is why zwift makes no sense. It’s just a good work out. But on a flat course how can someone doing 100 w less than you and a 2.6 w kg vs your 3.6 w kg beat you?

You got the much better workout. If you met on the road it would not be close
