Yep, basically, I tried it on the 400M loop yesterday. Only problem is having the screen on, but I’ve got a running bag I put it on, just need to avoid changing focus.
It’s on my 945, and I think recent Fenix do it. Pretty sure it just uses the motion in your wrist but TBH it’s reasonably accurate.
The training plans on zwift are getting on my tits now. You have your sessions for the week but they are released a certain times and you have to complete them within a time frame. If you miss one tough shit.
I was going to get up and do the next one before work tomorrow but I cant because it’s not released until the afternoon.
The call their training plans flexible, when they are everything but.
I’ve done the same on an outdoor run to get the headband I use on my avatar for cycling. Except I have a stryd and you can just connect that straight to zwift. So no need to mess with my Garmin watch which was recording my run as normal
That sounds proper shit! I’m still sticking with trainerroad for my structured workouts. The new plan builder and calendar really does make it nice and simple to move things around. Total opposite of what you suggest about zwift. I’ve switched my weekday workouts to Monday/Wednesday now, instead of Tuesday/Thursday as I’m zwift racing on those latter days. It’s a simple drag and drop on the calendar.
Did my set 3.5hr aerobic workout on Saturday morning, and just had zwift on in the background. I simply didn’t connect the trainer to zwift so that only the trainerroad app on my phone was controlling the turbo via erg. Was a fairly straightforward way to get the 25 volcano lap badge.
Yeah don’t bother with the Zwift plans - they look shit.
I just select workouts manually if using erg
There is simply too much choice and as per usual it’s not easy finding the workouts you enjoy within the game. So I tend to create my own and use those
Going to try the London flat BC TT on Thursday, day off yesterday (first complete rest day for a while) and just easy with some openers today and tomorrow so I can give it a proper bash. Bologna TT power from a couple of weeks ago was 273 / 4wkg so I’m hopeful I could hold at least that for the slightly longer course as I held back a bit until the climb
When I look at this, is shows how much I had stalled over 2018 and 2019, and (at least over 20mins) how much things have moved on in 2020. The question is whether this translates to significantly improved 2+ hour bike power numbers.
My own experience is that the improvements seen on TP are translating to faster real life efforts. Pretty much every ride I go on at the moment results in a handful of PRs, and I am seeing a few KOM top 10’s.
However, I think that when you do get to riding outdoors more, you need to push yourself a little harder, it is easy to fall back onto a pace that you are comfy with, even though you now have the fitness to go faster
