It looks like it just uses your best power in the last 3 months now, instead of averaging best 3? I should reverse weight dope! I’m ACTUALLY at my Zwift weight now. Madness
Had a go at the tiny races myself. FML the first race was hard 350W for about 6 minutes!
Managed to join Cat A for the second race and the legs were still burning so sat up.
Joined Cat A again in the third race hoping some of them would give up and I might get a pack of stragglers, I did until the KOM and got spat out might have got 1 point!
Back to B for the last race, spat out again on the KOM so cruised back.
10.5k smash on Watopia Flat reverse and another last place. Since getting upgraded to Cat A a few weeks ago I’ve been pretty much last on Zwiftpower once it’s culled half the field for some reason or another. Still managed 4.4W/kg for 15 mins.
Finding Cat A a lot less fun that Cat B just due to the reduced fields and the massive difference in ability. In a field of just 5 riders, when others can hold 5W/kg for 20 mins and I can’t hold it for 5 mins, I just can’t hang on. There’s very little opportunity to sit in a pack as there isn’t one.
Since I’m only racing to improve and be motivated I feel I’m in a bit of a dead zone where I might improve my sprint in Cat B but my 20min power is too high to stay there, but in Cat A I can’t keep up on any level so just solo most rides home.
I feel your pain. Lunchtime Cat A rides are not well attended. I still don’t get how so many people are not upped from B to A . I try to do mixed cat races when available.
ZRL is always a big wake up call. Actually I did much better than expected. BL13 ZZP Rockets are in Div A2, from what I saw Div B1 went off harder. @Daz race in A1 looked horrific.
Level of effort was hard, but no one was going for it on the climbs. Effort only really ramped on last lap.
I actually went for it early and tried to hang on for last 2 km - strategy worked well and I hung on for 16th place
I absolutely emptied the tank. Body not used to this
