Not sure how you mean? I only cruised up at about 200w which was 21:50
The 290w was one of the Tuesday races in the league and I was hanging on

There was some info on the algo that’s behind it. They’d analysed over 700,000 ftp tests to find all the correlations etc.
But does seem odd that it’s not a constant gradient. Hill doesn’t make a difference on a trainer, surely. As it’s resistance so use an easier gear. Your body positioning etc is the same, unlike outdoors when comparing flat to a hill. Or am I missing something?
One thing I can’t get my head around (and I may be overthinking).
If you use a different in-game bike - you will get a faster time. So can arguably go harder for less time. So could you get different FTP results based on what bike you chose?
Yeah i thought that…as I switched in the Aethos with the Millensteins!
I’m assuming they’ve factored that in, as they’ll have the factoring that sits behind the bike’s performance?
But aren’t they just looking at the power output? Otherwise you can also drop your weight For a faster time
I had a go up it yesterday not a particularly strong effort. I think I was around 290 for the climb. Didn’t mind it though
Not according to this …
Must be a power and time equation as 300W for 5min is different to 300W for 25min. Different bikes make a few seconds, but still a few watts variance in the output.
Yeah, I was partly thinking that very few people would break 17 minutes so it won’t be far off 20 for most.
If I can motivate myself later I might put a bit more effort in!
Not like I’ve got a race at the weekend or anything
So, erm, @buzz - I did think it was 20 mins.
Looks like I managed a 15:31.
Don’t have paid for Strava, so can’t see the leaderboards.
I guess using a heavier bike and adding some kg could see me get that to 20mins.
I like the feeling of getting to “the top” - much more motivating that Alpe. It’s indoors innit, so gradient doesn’t matter. It’s all just flywheel resistance.
Yeah i rode a 16.53, and I was crap.
Clearly I have no idea what I’m on about
Well that was a pretty unpleasant 14:05! Tried to pace it so that I didn’t detonate at halfway but was suffering in the last couple of minutes. I still think it’s easier to put a bit more effort in during a race though TBH.
AP was 308 but it has graded me at 273W, which is only 4W higher than what I did in the triathlon a fortnight ago for 70 minutes. But definitely less than what I held in the Zwift race for just about an hour.
Long distance wise I held 190W for ~6:30 at Nice last year but that was probably a bit higher for the first 5:30 as most of the last hour was freewheeling down the mountain.
And 250W for 2:30 at the hilly TT last month.
Not sure what this confirms! My max isn’t great but I can hang on to a decent percentage for a while.
Anyway, we need to get Fruity in on this for a whole new level of terror for him
Nice work all, think I may give it a tickle at sone point
@mw22 I suspect I’ll be dropped early. Our 10yo was up til at least 3am with night terrors. Exhausted.
Nah. Not happening. Will try the 7km preprandrial crit.
Get yourself on the ftp climb and MTFU
Myself and bongo pushed through
Fkin awful
Survival just in the pack. Got 3 ghosts, mega useful when I’m riding at my FTP. Fck am I supposed to do with that.
No focus going into sprint, went way to early considering the state I was in and blew up. Lost 10 places in last 100m.
Climb would’ve been easy in comparison.
30 min power pb … Says it all.
Love that word
Missed the BL13 races tonight through a combination of bad timing and bad connection. So hit The Grade instead.
Think sub-12 and 350W are possible. Went from the bottom with no lead-in and didn’t change bikes. Not sure I would get a >300W ftp from a 20min test at the moment. Like the ramp test, think it overestimates for me.
