308W for 13:55 and a “grade” of 274W. Probably a 8.5/10 effort so potential to go a bit better. Flat bit in the middle is a bit annoying

Almost identical stats to mine, although I was maybe 9/10? hard to say as I haven’t done many big efforts recently.
Longer climb than Bologna, lots more people riding it at the moment, so plenty of company. The changing gradient is annoying when trying to push constant watts, it gets very steep towards the top, then flattens out to the line.

That cat B race the other day was seriously stacked!!!
No sprint.
The Z Racing series are usually pretty stacked, on a flat course I just get swamped at the end, if there is a climb near the finish someone normally splits the pack and I can finish back of the lead group.
Tried to hang with the A Race on Monday but lost connection for 10sec and couldn’t get back into the pack.

Hopefully see you in the BL13 races next week. We had two of the top10 ranked in world turn up last night, and they have been regular (MGeoff Millour, Berk Kayin). Mass starts means you can test yourself on trying to survive in the pack with them over the 10km

Typically they couldn’t have done it 80+ days ago when I got bumped into cat A
548 for me, which is right at the bottom of B (500-750). Thought I’d be mid B at least

Well I was adamant I wouldn’t race that new climb… So with almost zero peer pressure from 2 club mates, signed in for my second race of the day
Then found out it was 46km… Garage was about 30c.
Hung on through Titans and over to the climb where I immediately got spat out the back.
Almost quit but decided to just tempo it and slowly reeled a few in from my age cat (tho stupid masters system where anyone seemed to be in any pen and they sorted it after). Died at the top chasing another of my cat and grouped up with another after the descent
No clue why the finish was 1km after beach banner, don’t think there was a finish line either.
Teammates came 1 & 2 and I ruined the podium with a p4.
Yesterday was a great day.
My 90 days exile in cat A ended. Got to sign up to a huge 96 pen full of ridiculous high powered Bs.
First half I was doing the same power as what I’d needed to survive in A. Thankfully the second half did ease a touch
No mans land at the finish and I checked back at 700m to get a draft before a second sprint. Hung on to 3rd by skin of my teeth.
78zp rank result, my best ever saw me drop 5 points.
The high was short lived…as today… Of the 96 riders, one got upgraded back to A
I clearly can’t sandbag as well as the rest. And it’s laughable that my 2 best power efforts in 91 days came in cat B races
Didn’t think CatA was a thing anymore?
I was in CatD in a race this week, and got thoroughly trounced. Mostly by people who seemed to be complaining in the chat that the new grading system was unfair on them. If you are posting int he chat during the race, you are in the wrong category!
I signed up for zracing and it seems to think I’m a sprinter how I laughed!
No idea what it means TBH I usually just look at the old zpower site.
Anyway, I’m still cat B and don’t see me getting lifted again
Haven’t raced for a few weeks but I’m going on it tonight, might just be a pootle though.

For me, CatA and CatB serve different purposes. I can’t race in CatA, the only goal is to try and not get dropped. I ride at/near threshold, with spikes above when someone puts an effort in to break up the pack. Best case, I finish at the back of the lead pack. It’s effectively a good over-under workout.
CatB I can stay in the pack relatively easily after the initial starting surge has subsided and as long as I pay attention for the breaks - still surging above threshold, but sub-threshold in the pack. I still have no chance in the sprint, plenty of CatB can put out >10w/kg and I can’t. I’ve experimented with a few long breaks for home, but found that is just a more miserable way to lose than trying to sprint in the bunch.
Apparently I’m in amethyst with about 510 RP’s, probably racing soon and will see if I improve
I’m like buzz though, with about 1K to go I go backwards from near the front if I’ve got myself up there.
