What bike? Everyone has a bike opinion, give us your best. I need a new one

Nope lol.
My chicken legs are far too incompatible with that. Its a relatively flat commute and only use a few gears - but I find the wind a grind. I really couldnt cope with single speed.

Why did you want gears?

Isn’t it flat?

Sorry. Just read the above.

60km round trip for me now. Still fixed.
Easy.
Rim brakes doesn’t matter. Just use your legs.

Any views on Merida ?

This seems to tick alot of boxes. Also comes in 105 but at another £550 seems overkill.
Not the lightest at 9.8, tho suspect the tyres arent helping that any.

No clue how they do the sizing, as its putting me on a medium which they size as 51!?!?

Fck it…
The 105 Merida was lighter, narrower bars and obvs had the 105.

Pretty much ticks every box I had - I’ll swap the tyres out and hopefully get another 9+ years outta this one.

Thanks for all the input which I promptly ignored!

My first road bike was a Merida and it was pretty bullet proof. They went through weird phase of putting the rear brake near the bottom bracket - didn’t catch on funnily enough.

How about this?

US import… sounds a bit of a hassle. But comes with guaranteed entry to Roth any year up to 2029

edit: 5 seconds of research suggests may be a scam. Based in Indonesia!

Ah well, back to dreaming. The actual Canyon site 2026 model is 9K and no way Mrs FT is swinging for that.

I have a bridge for sale if you are interested ?

But the funds need to go through Nigeria ?!

Gorgeous bike like.

Retirement present ?

Here’s the 2026 model from Canyon direct

Not sure I like the spiral design on the back wheel or the light blue detail on the frame.

Not that it matters as Mrs would skin me alive if one turned up in a box , £9,300 + £59.99 delivery

I’d have to accidentally miss off a zero or something.

(Also… sold out :exploding_head:)

Cycle2Work via your new company? That’d save you about 40% or thereabouts. Cheap as chips.

I don’t like the wheel decals either. But I guess they’re stickers and can be removed with a bit of gentle heat. And replaced with some custom vinyl Fruity stickers.

Well, I suspect the counter-argument from herself might be that chips are in fact £3.95

However, I like your thinking and style :+1:t2:

Sticking with German bikes Cube appear to be well priced.

Ā£2K is ā€œwell pricedā€ imo. Sadly, I don’t sell bikes.

Ok I will caveat the ā€˜well priced’ reference when looking at TT/Tri super bikes. For the spec compared to other bikes in that category then it carries a lot for the price.

I didn’t mean to appear to criticise your comment, there are zero tri bikes at my price point, so I’m in la la landia. I’m sure that relatively speaking you are correct.

Fwiw I have got to the age of 35 in triathlon years without ever spending £2K on a bike :man_shrugging:t2:

P2 frame and wheels were sourced second hand on eBay & then built up with a tiagra groupset.

(Although Canyon and Rachel Reeves may finally have hooked me in with those C2W Speedmaxes)
