Your Kona Picks - 2019

Had a quick loo on my phone, nice site! In Hamburg of the 4 'competitors it selects, 3 were well ahead of me after the bike (10-16 mins), but as normally happens I closed them down on the run, even with a few stops for cramp!

Again, no surprise, all 4 were 6+ mins behind after the swim; and 3 came tonking past on the bike, only to finish behind me

So whilst I’m not flirting with 9:59 anymore, the pattern remains the same. A consistent set of splits.

Yeah, I found it really illuminating when I found it last year. When slot hunting (which I was for Nice), it really showed how touch and go it was with me chasing down some people, but others chasing me down. It’s what I like about triathlon - everyone has their relative strengths and weaknesses, and those graphs show that.

I’m banking on the consistencency come my battle with @Hammerer in the M60 category honours in Kona. Roll-on 2034. Just need to select the KQ event.

…or are we slipping this to the right, now we’re well into our 40s?

Funnily in Frankfurt, my competitors are miles behind after the NWS swim, even further back after the bike…and then finish next to me. I would never have guessed! Graph reads like a massive ‘V’.

I don’t want another 12:05 finish until I’m at least 60 :upside_down_face:

it only seems to go back to 2015 for IM Wales. I did it in 2013

Yes, only back to 2015. I’ve done 4 in that time, but 2 were Outlaw & the 226, so not on there.

Didn’t really know where to put this…

I know the photo has been tuned to bring all the definition out, by crikey. How flippin lean is Frodo looking at the moment. Did someone forget to tell him Frankfurt isn’t on, neither is Kona until next year!

Looks lean but also strong, reminds me a bit of Mark Allen’s physique when he was winning Kona.

Sorry I don’t know what you mean. I have definately seen 67.4kg on my scales (after a 21km run on a really hot day). The scales at my Dr surgery do read around 2kg less than mine though

Frodo has always looked lean though. He’s a Vet now isn’t he

I see a few of the guns were playing yesterday.

Note AB, last over the line of the lead group but higher w/kg than almost anyone else; he never changes😀

A few dodgy ones as well, Aaron Royle’s HR for example

Ali & Joe Skipper were putting in dig after dig to try and get away so no wonder they came last out of the group, they were never there for a sprint finish by the looks of it.

So, the question is. Will JB ever win a race again? What’s his plan. He was no way in contention for the Olympics. Does he move up to 70.3 now?

oh and Henri Schoeman weighs as much as a medium sized child!

Given he smashed his last real race, winning IM Western Australia in a new course record of 7:45:21, I’d say yes he will.

EDIT: Obviously this answer is complete BS as I’m talking about the wrong guy!
